Oh my word!! Do you remember these pop beads? I had SO much fun with these when I was a child. There was no internet then. Kids went out to play and played all day. Lots of fun and loads of fresh air and sunshine. Aw I wish children today had that luxury. (That's really what it feels like to me now - it feels like I had a luxury that children today aren't lucky enough to have).

Vintage High Schools, Schools Looks, 1968 Schools, 60S, Schools Assembl, Combs Hair, Baby Boomer, Dresses Codes, 1960
1968--school assembly- girls wore skirts. No slacks or jeans. Clean and combed hair. In most schools, the girl on the far left front seat would probably be sent home to change - her skirt was too short. Teachers checked by having you kneel. Your hem had to brush the floor. By the late 60s though, many schools had given up trying to ban the miniskirt. You did have to wear stockings or tights, though - NO bare legs!
1968 school assembly -- Look at all those skirts. No jeans. Clean and combed hair. This was our everyday look. This is how Baby boomers dressed for school. time.
This could have been my high school. Look at all the books on the floor! And their hair!
1968 school assembly - This looks like my middle school days, decades ago. I had to wear a dress to school every day through seventh grade. While in eighth grade the school district decided if it was freezing or below we could wear pants! The mini skirt length was popular at this time. If a teacher or administrator thought a girl's skirt was too short they sent you home! When I started high school our dress code totally disappeared .

This is the F5 tornado that went through Omaha, NE, May, 1975. This photo was taken looking West from Aksarben Race Track by the photographer who was there to take pictures of the finishes of the races. The tornado was about 1/4 mile away from the track. I was at home, in my basement, under an overturned couch (for protection - ha!) with my two sons (8 and 4) praying the tornado would not hit our home (which, thank God, it didn't.)

Ditto Machine (Duplicating Machine) - The sheets that had been through the ditto machine were printed in purple and had a special aroma. Students would smell the papers. The smell came from the ditto machine’s duplicating fluid, a mixture of methanol and isopropanol.
