"What I love is that each morning, Charlotte and Amelia rush to their envelopes to see what we've written. The notes are sometimes a simple observation of a charitable act or a quick drawing to make them laugh. I love that Charles and I force ourselves to take a minute each evening to think about why we love our children. " yes. This is what a child will remember!
A simple way for a preschooler to "measure" their positive and negative actions. All of the balls start in the 'Sad' side and they are moved to the "Happy" side. From everyday chores done without hassle to out of the blue good actions like helping without being asked or caring for someone. If there is a negative action, a ball (or more depending on the severity) will be placed back into the "sad" jar. Once all the balls are moved to the "Happy" jar a reward is given. It really works!!!
