The Rothko Room @ The Phillips Collection Created in 1960 by Duncan Phillips, the Rothko Room holds four paintings by Mark Rothko. It is a relatively small room, reflecting Rothko's preference for exhibiting his art "in a scale of normal living." This room provides the best way to really experience Rothko's paintings. I never really appreciated Rothko's work until I visited this space.
