Mystery Walker. This one has saved me so many headaches! Once we are all lined up and ready to leave the classroom, I choose a name from the bucket and put it in my pocket. This is our "mystery walker'. I keep my eyes on this child while we are walking in the hall. If this child has been on his/her best behavior, he/she gets to pick a prize from my treasure box when we get back to class.

In “Sneak Peek,” students ages 14 and up analyze literature and visually demonstrate their comprehension of details. Using the Stop Motion Studio app, they create a book trailer promoting its imagery, symbolism, or theme. Students select a scene they feel best illustrates their point and then create a storyboard before making their video. The class then watches and discusses everyone’s creations. For more lesson ideas, use this free book: http://apple.co/BookTrailer

This works like a charm! Choose a desired behavior and write it on the board. Select a stick, but don't reveal the name to the class. Throughout the lesson, periodically monitor the named student for the desired behavior. If he achieves the goal behavior, reveal his identity and reward him with a special classroom incentive. If the named student doesn't demonstrate the behavior, do not name the student, tell the class that there was not a winner this time.
