Great Idea!!! This is a good way to teach a child to take care of what is theirs and be responsible for their messes. I am not sure that I'd give cash for the second item. I'd make them do a second chore or pay for second item with their cash. I did this as a teacher. Every item left in my room cost .25 to get back. All money collected went to a charity we voted on as a class.
