Your resentment is poisoning this beautiful place. Please seek professional therapy before your hate consumes you and everyone around you......

I stumbled across this board while searching for roses by Catherine Klein. As an art hobbyist, I think it is wrong to copy another artists work for profit. It is plagarism, period. Its one thing to hang a copycat version in your home, but to profit from someone elses work is wrong. thats my 2 pence anyway.

umm I've personally been to christies studio and her work is all hand painted! She is a fabulous artist and deserves all the credit for her work. Karma will bite you in the a$$ when you least expect it. I would like to see some of your work since you seem to know everything about art. Although I did notice that you seem to like tole painted flowers in your other pinterest posts. That just goes to show that you are way outdated in decorating. Obviously you don't have any class because all you do is talk trash on someone who is talented. I hope to god that I don't know who you are because I would be embarrassed to have you as my friend knowing that you could just as easily stab me in the back. "without prejudice" It breaks my heart to see Christie attacked like this. It saddens me AND scares me to think there are people like you out there filled with such hatred, and envy. You must be a wanna-be rose artist who has failed so horribly at it. Christie Repasy is a warm, intelligent, and very talented human being. You will never, ever be her.....you will never paint like her.....you will never be famous like her, nor will you ever have friends like her. No matter what you say or write about her.....those of us that know her know the truth. Shame on you. Do yourself a favour and take some time and think about what you have done...if you don't...you will remain a cold and bitter person forever. Not a very good way to live life.

I'm afraid I do not believe your statement. You cannot possibly own all of the works you are "critiquing" here, given the fact that you're on a mission to negate Repasy's work. Therefore, you must have lifted them, either from her site or the Web. Copyright infringement is also a crime that is being taken seriously. Again, tread lightly.

Nancy/Jane/klein roses is apparently sight impaired as well as mentally impaired. I suggested in another comment, which has been deleted, that she perhaps take a few courses in Art Appreciation before attempting to critique ANY painting. She has absolutely no concept of color, composition, and/or light & shadow.

It is one thing to be inspired by the works of another artist; derivative images are not allowed under US copyright laws...unless, of course, the copyrights of a deceased artist are not renewed. Decades ago I read an article of an interview given by Ms. Repasy wherein she freely admitted owning countless vintage books on how-to paint roses and florals. Clearly Ms. Repasy has made derivative images from these sources along with copying the images outright. People who respond with the frenzy of a mob mentality yet without ALL the facts, or those who choose to ignore the facts prefer to "shoot the messenger" rather than admit the truth. BRAVO TO YOU FOR PRESENTING THE TRUTH!!!

Hello lovely ladies. I think you have all a very carefree attitude about an artist memory and a negligent notion of respect for the work or others. it's all fine and good to say "" Well, I'ma an admirer , so I can copie and sell the work as my own". And No, , I'm not Kleinroses, I simply start a conversation by chance in my research for Janet Hill case. Porr things, she will be delighted to read your opinions in this question.......But really, I want to be optimistic: on day somenone will assist plagiarists to understand the consequences of their actions. We are all responsible and should not encouraged the copie by our passivity. Furthermore, I do not want to take part of an anonymous vindict against Mrs Repasy. Bonne journée à tous et bonjour de Bruxelles.

I hope "Jane" and "Klein Roses" (the same person who has "conversations" in the comments section with her/themself while bashing Ms. Repasy??) will read the above notesleft by people who have experience with painting. All I read while on Jane/Klein roses board sound like a vicious, jealous, obsessive 'stalker' type of person, not an informed, educated, neutral 'art critic'. You are so 'angry' and focused on hurting this one person, it actually destroys any credibility you may/may not have as an art 'critic'. It makes you look insecure and phony. Like I've said in comments on your SECRETS board..... go get a life of your own, quit keeping a watch on other people, go paint, go smell a flower, go DO SOMETHING OTHER THAN BEING OCD ABOUT SOMEONE ELSE LIVING THEIR LIFE!

Christie Repasy has more integrity than most people have in their baby toe. For you to suggest otherwise shows you know nothing about her or her work. I have personally witnessed Christie Repasy painting. She selects the flowers and cuts them herself while preparing to paint a rendering of them. Christie is not only extremely talented, an inspiring artist, but has no malice toward anyone. She stays true to herself and is a loyal friend to all. She has been painting since she was a young girl; her career as a recognized artist took off in the 1980s. Christie's art have an International following. She has shown at shown at the highly acclaimed Laguna Beach Art Festival. Nothing you say or do can ever take away the sterling reputation Christie Repasy has acquired simply by doing what she has a passion for and for which she has a God given talent.

  • ~ PW. Ragont ~
    ~ PW. Ragont ~

Many artists copy long-dead famous artists. Most copy style, or method. It's done all the time. But in this case what I am seeing is a purposed repetition, as though a sheet of tracing paper was placed on top of the original artist's work, then traced. The subject positions are the same as the original as well. And the colors; in some cases the hues have been changed, but the central objects are identical. I believe c.r. has taken liberties, but many artists do the same, though maybe not as obviously flagrant. I believe if you looked around you'd find many copies of vintage art on the market and people are willing to pay the price. And really, the bottom line is the money, after all.

I can't edit my original comment, but I would like to qualify what I said about the bottom line being 'the money'— I love gardening and I copy the best gardeners, but that doesn't make me a thief, and I don't do it for the money. But creative folks like graphic artists, photographers, and musicians are a rights-protected group of people and they have legal recourse in cases where their creativity has been compromised. Just sayin' :-)

@jane i agree with you jane, but christie repasy did not indicate "after klein" on any of her works. christie states that she has taken art classes at a college, so she cannot be ignorant of using "after klein." she therefore duped her customers into thinking they had an original and that she - christie - had artistic skills. also, it may not be just inspiration. several of the images have points that are exactly in proportion. there is a great possibility that a device was used that projected the klein image on a canvas and the image was directly copied. thanks for the comment jane. that is what i hoped for - a discussion on this board.
