How To Make A Fairy-Light Wine Bottle Lamp
I've been addicted to DIY lights for some time now. Perfect lighting sets the ambiance and mood of a room, and what's better than creating beautiful lighting from recycled material? My idea of a perfect space is one that has dim lighting--even when I am studying or crafting, I enjoy the lights to be dim because I don't like feeling like I am an in some kind of interrogation room at a cop shop. As you've seen with the DIY lace lamp previously posted, it's possible to create your own light for not even a quarter of the cost that you would spend at stores such as Ikea, Pier One, World Market, or any home goods store. I really enjoy these glowing outdoor orb lights because they're very ethereal and quaint, yet simple and unassuming. To create these beauties, you need a string of white christmas lights (or whichever color you prefer) and opaque glass shades, which can be found at any thrift store or home goods store. For a high end look that costs next to nothing, these lights should shine on in any garden! For this project, all you in are: and Another set of lights that are very inexpensive and easy to make are egg carton flower lights from Esprit Caban. You can paint them any color and string them along your ceiling, behind your favorite chair, or above your bed for a relaxing glow! This DIY recycled wine bottle light from Wit and Whistle is very creative and gives a feeling of nostalgia to winos alike! I think it is the perfect addition to a dimly lit kitchen. It brings back happy memories of the many cafes in Paris. As an avid origami fan, I try to incorporate origami into my home decor whenever I see an opportunity! These box lights will make a great addition to any home! Use your imagination and add color and designs to these adorable string lights! All you need are lights and paper! Candles are a good way to set a romantic mood. Candle chandeliers are an even better way to create a romantic mood without having to spend a lot of money. You can frost them with spray paint or leave them clear--place them on your patio or inside for a warm, festive setting! I am in love with this eco friendly and eco chic chandelier from Ecologue. This easy DIY can set the mood at a wedding or in the home! These cupcake lights are an adorable and festive addition to a party or a child's room!
Well... after the final exams is a social necessity to burn all of the neurons used preparing the exam During college years you'll probably throw away a LOT of bottles of booze water What if you could turn them into a lamp? You'll find different ways of doing this trick... the top 2 (IMHO) are from instructables.com and witandwhistle.com Here's the link for the original designs: http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-make-a-Vodka-Lamp-or-any-other-booze-bottl/#step1 http://witandwhistle.com/2009/11/03/diy-wine-bottle-light/ For my little mash-up you'll need: Bottle(s) Drill Christmas Lights Sandpaper Sand (optional) PVC small tube (the diameter should be like the Drill Bit's one) Sewing wire Well... as you'll see the most frustrating and difficult part will be the Drilling I suggest to practice with other bottles before trying with the chosen one. If you're lucky enough to own a 1/2" glass bit you'll achieve the perfect hole in a nanosecond but if you're like me you'll have to go the hard way: Check before drilling if the diameter of the light and the drill's bit are similar (I learned the hard way) Choose the spot (near the bottom) where you want to drill the bottle Define the area with tape Block the bottle in order to fix the spot Start drilling and lean gently the drill You'll have to often stop and clean the glass dust If you can't get any friction you can try to Glue/lean sandpaper to the drill's end Use sand The sand method is fastest but risky: you'll have to glue the PVC pipe on the drilling area, and while drilling you'll have to go gently up and down while pouring a little amount of sand in the tube If you're lucky enough you'll eventually reach the end. Immediately shut down the drill and pull it out. Remove the PVC pipe (if you used it) and use the sandpaper to refine the hole. Tie with a knot a small sewing wire to the first Christmas light and (helping yourself with a needle to spot it) pull it out from the bottle's top (using this trick you'll be able to pull the light nearly to the top of the bottle, making the lamp's light homogeneous) Carefully feed the strand of lights into the bottle trough the hole If you want you can fix the hole with a rubber circle with hot glue In my opinion, wine and Absolut Vodka bottles are the best for this project: The last image is from the guide you'll find in instructables.com: the effect with Absolute's opaque glass is amazing

Soda Bottle Cherry Blossoms- cute craft idea
Pop Bottle Cherry Tree ~ Materials: • White paper or canvas • Black and pink paint • Paintbrush • Empty 2L bottle Instructions: • Start by using dark paint to paint a branch on poster board. Branches are easy to paint. If you can’t paint in a straight line, it looks even better. • I cut this piece of poster board in half lengthwise because I want it to look more like an art panel than a poster. • Once the branch is painted, let it dry before continuing with the stamping. • Now let’s do the stamping. Pour some paint on a paper plate and dip the plastic bottle. • The bottom of 2-liter soda bottle has five points like the five petals of a cherry blossom. • Press the plastic bottle on the poster board, then lift up. Dip the bottle in more paint each time you repeat the stamp. This is really fun, add as many blossoms as you want.
