barreleye fish - a real deep sea creature with a see-through head
Since 1939, scientists have thought the "barreleye" fish Macropinna microstoma had "tunnel vision" due to eyes that were fixed in place. Now though, Monterey Bay Aquarium researchers show that the fish actually has a transparent head and the eyes rotate around inside of it.
The Fish With the Transparent Head Photograph by MBARI Macropinna microstoma, commonly known as Barreleye, are small deep sea fish found in tropical-to-temperate waters of the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans.
This giant squid (1000 lb) was caught about 10 miles off the shores of Oahu, Hawaii in 1981. The pupil of its eye measured more than 3.5" across.

Giant Squid like whoa...and this is why i only lay on the beach i never actually go into the ocean....
The colossal squid is now believed to be the largest squid species in the world. Larger and heavier than a giant squid, equipped with limbs covered in teeth and hooks, a gigantic razor sharp beak, and the largest eyes in the world, the colossal squid goes to show that "sea monsters" may exist after all.
SIZABLE SQUID The Catch: 990-pound Giant Squid The Story: Just spying a giant squid is rare enough, but a New Zealand crew managed to land one in 2007. The fisherman worked for over two hours to capture the 10-meter-long sea creature. This catch easily dwarfs the first colossal squid caught in 2003, which only weighed 330 pounds
Milky Way Above Easter Island Image Credit & Copyright: Manel Soria What is sure is that over 800 large stone statues exist there. The Easter Island statues, stand, on the average, over twice as tall as a person and have over 200 times as much mass. Few specifics are known about the history or meaning of the unusual statues, but many believe that they were created about 500 years ago in the images of local leaders of a lost civilization.

MILKY WAY ABOVE EASTER ISLAND 887 moai or stone giants stand against the barren landscape of Easter Island, averaging 13 feet tall and weighing 14 tons. Also known as "Rapa Nui" and "Isla de Pascua", Easter Island is one of the most remote places on earth, more than 2,000 miles from Tahiti or Chile. The juxtaposition of these enigmatic moai against the grandeur of the Milky Way, makes for a beautiful image. Image: http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap120618.html

This NASA image shows a new image of a ring - not of jewels - but of black holes. This composite image of Arp 147, a pair of interacting galaxies located about 430 million light years from Earth, shows X-rays from the NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory (pink) and optical data from the Hubble Space Telescope (red, green, blue) produced by the Space Telescope Science Institute, or STSc (AFP Photo / NASA)
Arp 147, a pair of interacting galaxies located about 430 million light years from Earth- contains the remnant of a spiral galaxy (right) that collided with the elliptical galaxy on the left. This collision has produced an expanding wave of star formation that shows up as a blue ring containing in abundance of massive young stars. These stars race through their evolution in a few million years or less and explode as supernovas, leaving behind neutron stars and black holes.

Filmed for the first time, the icy “finger of death” is an unprecedented look at nature’s beauty -- seen at its devastating worst. Salty brine, heavier and much colder than the surrounding sea water freezes anything it touches as it seeps into cracks in the ice to the water below

Oxygen Around Saturnian Moon
Dione, Saturn moon. It has been discovered it has wispy oxygen atmosphere.
NASA's Cassini spacecraft has "sniffed" molecular oxygen ions around Saturn's icy moon Dione for the first time, confirming the presence of a very tenuous atmosphere. The oxygen ions are quite sparse - one for every 0.67 cubic inches of space (one for every 11 cubic centimeters of space) or about 2,550 per cubic foot (90,000 per cubic meter) - show that Dione has an extremely thin neutral atmosphere. July 2010 Above Aurora Australis Credit: ISS Expedition 23 Crew, ISAL, NASA On May 29, looking southward from a vantage point about 350 kilometers above the southern Indian Ocean, astronauts onboard the International Space Station watched this enormous, green ribbon shimmering below. Known as aurora australis or southern lights, the shifting, luminous bands are commonly seen at high northern latitudes as well, there known as the aurora borealis or northern lights.
Among the views of Earth afforded astronauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS), surely one of the most spectacular is of the aurora. These ever-shifting displays of colored ribbons, curtains, rays, and spots are most visible near the North (aurora borealis) and South (aurora australis) Poles as charged particles (ions) streaming from the Sun (the solar wind) interact with Earth’s magnetic field. http://earthspacecircle.blogspot.com/2012/11/aurora-australis-observed-from.html
Aurora Borealis from Outer Space
This snaking green aurora was the result of a geomagnetic storm that was most likely caused by a coronal mass ejection from the Sun on May 24, 2010. Astronauts aboard the International Space Station captured this picture of the light show as they orbited over the Southern Indian Ocean at an altitude of 220 miles (350 kilometers), with the astronaut observer most likely looking towards Antarctica (not visible) and the South Pole. The aurora has a sinuous ribbon ..
