Anne Boleyn, second wife of Henry VIII. Her refusal to bed the king as a mistress as her sister had done, added to her appeal and helped Henry along in his decision to divorce his wife, Catherine of Aragon (daughter of Spain's famous rulers Ferdinand and Isabella). Anne did not provide the king with a happy home or a son, being only the mother of Elizabeth I (a future Queen). Anne's inability to conceive a male heir led to her execution for adultery, incest and high treason on May 19, 1536.
