Social stories can be a great tool for children with w/ Autism Spectrum Disorder. They can be used to teach developmentally appropriate behaviors associated w/ various social situations. My social stories typically include four sentence types - descriptive, directive, perspective & control. Use these to 1) teach basic social skills (sharing, greetings, routines, etc.) and 2) teach understanding & appropriate responses in social situations (fire drills, routines, picking your nose, etc.).
