This is exactly why you need to give yourself time to heal, inside and out. She is beautiful. So are you.

This is Josephine. Josephine will be turning 100 years young on May 18, 2013. She has been a mastectomy survivor since 1946. She had her second mastectomy in 1985. She called her prosthesis "her pin cushions". Today, Jo is still a pistol. She assists in arts and crafts classes on Tuesdays at Freedom Square. During WWII, she knit the coverings for sailors and soldiers who lost their limbs while fighting. Jo is an inspiration to us all!

In honor of Mother's Day approaching, we will be celebrating women who are mastectomy survivors. Please feel free to post a picture of a loved one who is a survivor with a caption about them. This is Dorothy Hedke. Dorothy turned 100 years young on April 8th. She has been a mastectomy survivor since 1987. Dorothy enjoys knitting afghans, baby hats, and blankets and donates them to newborns at the hospital. Happy belated Birthday and SURVIAL to Dorothy!
