Teacher Tip: Velcro your dry erase markers to the board, point the tips downward for a longer lasting marker!
Bad Idea: "Teacher Tip: Velcro your dry-erase markers to the board and point the tips downward for a longer-lasting marker!" Here's the problem, you have to buy new velcro every time you replace a marker. Just buy the holder that also comes with 4 markers and the Dry-Erase Eraser or attach a pencil cup to the board with velcro or a magnet.

Differentiate homework & give students choice... Students choose when to do deliberate practice in math 20 min. [review (meet expectations) or take on a challenge (exceed expectations), & in literacy [write for 60 min./week & read for 60 min./week.] Logging what they have done & showing their progress to the teacher throughout the week is mandatory.

Put student's names on the back of YOUR nametag so that you won't have to worry about finding the list during a fire drill or a field trip. Neat idea.

Class List - Instead of having to carry around your attendance sheet to recess or fire drills, etc. stick the kids names on the back of your teacher name tag.
Classroom Management 2- This would be an excellent resource to have during a drill or an emergency: the entire class list on the back of your name badge. I'm definitely doing this! It will make drills much less hectic if I don't have to try to remember names in the middle of a simulated crisis.
Instead of having to carry around your attendance sheet to recess or fire drills, etc. stick the kids names on the back of your teacher name tag. Great for field trips too! :)
No More Name Plates... I am thinking of so many things to use with this idea... names, sight words, etc.!!!

Expo markers remove sharpie paint pens!!! No More Name Plates... I have done this since my first year teaching! I had a very smart mentor!
no more name plates ~ teacher friends: great idea! ~ write on the desk using a sharpie PAINT pen, then to remove--simple color over it using an expo marker & wipe clean ~ other commenters say using hand sanitizer or rubbing alcohol works as well ~ helpful hint & great idea ~ from Timeouts and Tootsie Rolls: No More Name Plates
Replace those ugly names tags: Remove sharpie paint pen with expo marker, magic eraser, germ-x, or nail polish remover.
Neat idea! use dvd cases with solid paper for mini "white" boards...everybody gets a glove/sock/etc. for an eraser to store inside the case

DVD Case as a dry erase board. Tuck a glove inside for an eraser.... In case I can't get the mini whiteboards
Tales of the 4th Grade Teacher - DVD cases as small white boards with cheap glove as an eraser. This could be a good take home idea.
Tales of the 4th Grade Teacher: DIY Dry Erase Boards. Sure, I just threw out about fifteen DVD cases and now I see a great use like this one - whiteboards with a glove stored inside for erasing. I have been recommending plastic plates as a cheap whiteboard for years, but this might be better. I love the glove idea!

Keep kids from squirting too much soap/sanitizer - tie a rubber band around the top so when they push the dispenser down, it only goes halfway. --- genius!!

To keep kids from squirting too much soap tie a rubber band (or hair tie) around the top so when they push the dispenser down, it only goes halfway.
prevent wasting soap by putting a rubber band around it. #organizing #tips
To keep kids from squirting too much soap tie a rubber band around the top so when they push the dispenser down, it only goes halfway. I am going to try this with hand sanitizer. the large bottles put out way too much for little hands.
When you ask kids to wash their hands, they usually squirt too much soap because they push the dispenser all the way down. So to save soap, tied a rubber band around the top so when they push the dispenser down, it actually only goes halfway. Just the right amount they need to clean their hands.
A rubberband keeps the kids from pumping too much soap.
