Son of Gallant Fox, Omaha won the Triple Crown in 1935, just five years after his sire. The following year, he was put aboard a ship and taken to Great Britain, where he engaged in four races (winning twice and placing twice). On June 18th, Omaha ran in front of an astonished crowd of more than 200,000 spectators. His lifetime earnings were in excess of 154,000 dollars.

Riva Ridge - Penny's First Champion

The beloved but overshadowed Riva Ridge, who some say was responsible for saving the Meadow and perhaps facilitating Secretariat's legendary career, the unassuming bay gelding was quite an excellent racehorse in his own right. He won the Kentucky Derby & Belmont Stakes, and might've captured the TC if it weren't for a sloppy track at Pimlico that day. He won 2 Eclipse awards, raced 30 times, won 12 stakes races & amassed over 1 million in earnings. He was said to be the barn favorite.

"There will never be another horse like Man O'War. He gave new meaning to the world of horseracing because he had the nerves of steel and the drive to win. He was graceful, but powerful and a true racehorse that loved to work." - Unknown
