Bob Harper: The Skinny Rules and most of these are incredibly stupid. "Don't drink your calories." How about "pay attention to what you drink: a starbucks frappe can have hundreds of calories, as can any artificially sweetened drink, especially coke." 30 to 50 grams of fiber!? You might as well just take on the diet of cattle. 10-30 should suffice and is far more achievable. Berries are high in (natural) sugar, so watch how many you eat. 1 cup a day should be fine. HOMEMADE smoothies are a great way to add fruit, veggies, even fiber and protein in one quick, easy, to-go method, and can even serve as a meal replacement. No carbs after lunch? If you cut refined flours, pastries, sweets, and such, this won't be a problem. Just keep the serving small, like a half-fist sized (or fist sized for smaller people) breadroll or two for dinner, unless you do lots of strenuous cardio, then add a songle extra serving. One day a week meatless? Try removing red and high-fat (like bacon) meats from your diet to one or two servings a week, up lean chicken, canned tuna, and other white fish intake. Explain a real breakfast: 2-3 egg whites or boiled eggs eaten without yolks, 2-3 of a natural whole grain, high fiber cereal (look in the organic food section and ask around as there are some really delicious options out there). 10 meals? Try all meals. Make the weeks food in advance (perhaps on Sundays) and take the day's food with you in tupperware. Worried about it spoiling? Freeze it until the day of or the night before you want it. And if you do go out, go ahead and enjoy it. That'll be your "splurge" meal. Don't go to bed hungry, but try not to eat within three hours of going to bed. You do, however, want to WAKE UP hungry. Eat a healthy breakfast even if you're not, though. Don't "plan" a splurge meal, because that invites compromise. Just don't splurge at all. It's okay to have an ice cream, or get a few beers after work, or enjoy a (small) piece of Sally's birthday cake at the office that day, just don't get carried away, and keep those portions really small.

Hopefully this will help keep fruit and veggies from going bad too early. Smart things here. I have practiced many of these most of my life. I will add Tomatoes. I do not refrigerate them ever. I have a hanging basket in the kitchen for my tomatoes and if I cut it I eat the entire tomato then and there. They act of chilling a whole or cut tomato sucks the flavor away immediately.
