"Flower Power" was a slogan associated with hippies in 1960s-70s. It embodied their sentiment of peaceful resistance to the Vietnam War. Here a demonstrator offers a flower to police.
Iconic photo of a female demonstrator offering a flower to a Military Police officer during an anti-war protest, 10/21/1967.
A female demonstrator offers a flower to military police at an anti-Vietnam War protest in Arlington, Virginia, 21 October 1967. Flower power was a slogan used during the late 1960s and early 1970s as a symbol of passive resistance and non-violence ideology. It is rooted in the opposition movement to the Vietnam War.

Students placing flowers in the rifles of police during Vietnam War protests... This is where "Flower Power" came from. Being a Vietnam Vet's descendant I hate hippies because of how ashamed he is on himself for being forced to fight. All he did was drive supplies.

Flower power: photo taken by photographer Bernie Boston during protests against the Vietnam war.
."Flower Power" . The photo is a symbol for people who promote peace. The photo is iconic because the two main objects in the picture are complete opposites. The gun represents violence, pain, and suffering, while a flower represents peace, love, beauty. It shows how ideas and beliefs can be promoted in a nonviolent way.The photo is very ironic because the soldiers seem tense with guns pointed and ready while the man putting the flower in the barrel seems so laid back and calm

power to the people | 1969 the only thing that's changed is the quality of the photo
Its crazy to think that just a couple decades ago women and blacks were seen as inferior to white men. The crazier thing is that its still happening today, in the land of the free. Women, blacks, and hispanics face sexism and racism. We have proven ourselves time and time again, but that isn't enough. Men are still getting paid more for the same amount of work, than women. Black people still hear racist slurs and sayings. For the United States to work, all humans should have equal power.
“All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in the universal Declaration of Human Rights, without distinction of any kind, such as race, creed, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status. Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person.”

Hippies. hippies! hippie Peace love and happiness
The Summer of Love was a social phenomenon that occurred during the summer of 1967. I used to hitch hike up from Santa Barbara with my friends and play in the Haight. It was a blast! LTM. It is said that as many as 100,000 people converged on the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood of San Francisco that year. While hippies also gathered across America, Canada and Europe, San Francisco was the center of the hippie revolution, a melting pot of music, psychoactive drugs, sexual freedom, creative expression, and politics.

Would make for some interesting garden wall art
This photo is art to inspire because it makes you realize how we as humans destroy nature for our own personal needs and we should appreciate the worlds natural life as well.

"The Earth is 4.6 billion years old. Scaling to 46 years, we’ve been here 4 hours and our Industrial Revolution began just 1 minute ago. In that time we’ve destroyed more than 50% of the world’s forests."

hippies lived on communes and kibutz's
Before I die I would like to see my generation live out it's dream of creating a world where peace is more important than profit. Where taking care of the earth is more important than extracting resources so a few people can become rich. We need to overthrow the military industrial complex and put people over profit for once and for all!
