AO Year 1 / Books and resources used in Ambleside Online (http://www.amblesideonline.org/), Year 1. (Can be used for approx. ages 6-9, depending on the child) Homeschooling with the Charlotte Mason method.

AO Year 2 / Books used in Ambleside Online (http://www.amblesideonline.org/), Year 2. (Can be used for approx. ages 7-10, depending on the child) Homeschooling with the Charlotte Mason method. "Free read" doesn't mean free book, it means its not scheduled for a specific term, but is in addition to, for family/bedtime readings and such.

AO Year 3 / Books used in Ambleside Online (http://www.amblesideonline.org/), Year 3. (can be used for approx. ages 8-11, depending on the child)

AO Year 3.5 / Books used in Ambleside Online (http://www.amblesideonline.org/), Year 3.5. (This is an extra year used to prepare a child/allow them to mature for the more rigorous Year 4, which adds several new challenges. Can be used for approx. ages 9-10, depending on the child)

AO Year 4 / Ambleside Online book list for Year 4 (approx ages 9-12). Also added in Year 4 are readings of original Shakespeare plays, Plutarch, and dictation. The additional resources are either suggestions from AO's website or from other homeschoolers. Homeschooling with the Charlotte Mason method.

AO Year 5 / Ambleside Online book list for Year 5 (approx ages 10-13). In addition to these books, Year 5 includes Bible study, memory work, foreign language and Latin, readings of Shakespeare and Plutarch, math and dictation. The additional resources on this board are either suggestions from AO's website or from other homeschoolers. Homeschooling with the Charlotte Mason method.

AO Year 6 / From Ambleside Online (http://www.amblesideonline.org/06bks.shtml) - "Year 6 reflects a transition year between the education of childhood and the challenging education of the upper years. As such, more mature subject matter is included in some areas. We have endeavored to make note of this where applicable, but we encourage parents to pre-screen such material to determine its appropriateness for their child and family." Normally used for 11-14 year olds. Charlotte Mason method.

No one will use all these books or resources - pick what works best for your student (most likely ages 12-15). History studied in Year 7: Middle Ages, 800- 1400 (Alfred, King Arthur, Joan of Arc) Term 1: 800-1066, Term 2:1066-1333, Term 3: 1327-1485. Homeschooling with the Charlotte Mason method.
