Books worth reading...
Read Books, it's just like this for me...
On rare occasions there comes along a profound original, an odd little book that appears out of nowhere, from the pen of some obscure storyteller, and once you have read it, you will never go completely back to where you were before. The kind of book you may hesitate to lend for fear you might miss its company. The kind of book that echoes from the heart of some ancient knowing, and whispers from time's forgotten cave that life may be more than it seems, and less. #inspiration #books #quotes
Frame for library someday

Did you know that placing a red dot in the middle of words can help children see the whole word? Try it for students who just look at the beginning of words and then guess.
Sight Words, Words Helpful, Helpful Kids, Reading Fluency, For Kids, Kids Focus, Helpful Children, Teaching Sight, Red Dots
brain research says placing a red dot in the center of a word helps kids focus on the middle rather than just the beginning ......and then guessing the word. I need to remember this for my student who can't master his sight words!
I haven't researched this, but this teacher says: Thanks to brain specialist Fritz Mengert, I learned how to use a red dot in my reading instruction. Dr. Mengert told me that placing a red dot in the center of a word helps kids focus on the middle rather than just the beginning. Many of my students just looked at the beginnings of words and guessed at what they were, and the red dot was the answer I had been looking for. It worked! My students were much more able to distinguish between similar-looking words. Placing a red dot at the end of a line of text also improves reading fluency, he taught me, because it gives kids who have difficulty crossing the midline a focal point. With practice "reading to the dot," my kids learned to read all the way to the end of the line without stopping, and their fluency improved.
apparently placing a red dot in the middle of words helps children see the whole word. good for kids who just see the first letter and guess.
Did you know that placing a red dot in the middle of words can help children see the whole word? Great article about teaching sight words & using Word Walls.
