Lemon Coconut Oil Moisturizer #DIY Coconut Oil Beauty Products
DIY Lemon Coconut Oil Moisturizer . smells amazing too and without chemicals. Coconut Oil and Lemon two of my favourite things after Chocolate ofcourse . Coconut Oil has so many benefits that it makes me sad that all those years of my life why did i not know of coconut oils existence Sigh. But knowing the multiple benefits of it now i use it in literally everything for instance as an eye make up remover, in making my home-made chocolate, for baking and today i will show you how i make my own mositurizer with coconut oil. Lemons as you know are full of Vitamin C and my favourite part of it is how it helps in neutralizing the body’s pH balance. So starting off i poured in 4 tbsp of coconut oil in a medium size bowl. Depending on the temperature where you live if its hot and the oil is in a liquid state put it in the freezer until it solidifies then take it out. The moisturizer will be made when the coconut oil is in its solid state. After that squeeze in the lemons i added in juice of 2 lemons. At this point you guys can add anything you want like in the past i have added vitamin E oil, lavender oil, vanilla extract etc. You can add any essence but i wanted to make a lemon version today so that’s what i went with. Moving on to the part where the magic happens. With an electric hand mixer just whisk away the coconut oil and it will turn into a creamy, fluffy texture literally within minutes. When it becomes light and airy that’s when your moisturiser is all done. This is the quickest way to make an all natural home-made moisturiser . Better then the store bought ones which are loaded with unknown chemicals and preservatives

How To Make Non-Toxic Coconut Oil Sunscreen - Natural Cures Not Medicine HOME / COCONUT OIL / HOW TO MAKE NON-TOXIC COCONUT OIL SUNSCREEN How To Make Non-Toxic Coconut Oil Sunscreen How To Make Non Toxic Coconut Oil Sunscreen Commercially available sunscreens are some of the most toxic products we could apply to our skin. Try this simple DIY method of making a natural alternative. Many carrier oils used in holistic and natural skincare have an intrinsic natural SPF, or sun protection factor, and coconut oil is one of many carrier oils which can be used to make a sun protection cream. The SPF of a product measures the level of protection against the UVB rays from the sun, known as the burning rays. Typically SPF’s range from a very low 1 to a very high 50. According to the book “Oils of Nature” by Anthony J. O’Lenick the oils with the highest natural SPF’s alone are carrot oil which is graded as 38-40 and raspberry seed Oil at 28-50. Jojoba oil, sesame oil and coconut oil range from 4-10 so the oils alone will not offer enough protection. However, by adding zinc oxide you can produce more of a full spectrum sunscreen which will offer protection against UVA (the ageing rays) as well as UVB. Measuring the exact protection from homemade sunscreen is not precise so safe sun exposure should always be considered. With zinc oxide care should be taken to source high quality which is specifically formulated for the cosmetic industry , but it must be uncoated and not nano-particle grade. It is best to use a simple dust mask to avoid inhaling any of the zinc oxide dust. This mineral addition to the sunscreen will leave a white hue on the skin as it isn’t absorbed within the skin layers. The recipe below for a natural homemade coconut oil sunscreen uses a variety of oils and produces more of a body butter. It is safe for the whole family to use (but make sure that children do not ingest it either intentionally or unintentionally) The addition of beeswax will give it slight water repellant properties. The essential oils you add will be a matter of personal preference although in general citrus oils in particular should not be used as they are phototoxic meaning they will actually cause burning. Carrot seed essential oil has a natural woody, earthy scent. This is a rich body butter, so a little goes a long way. You should find all of these ingredients online or at your local health food store. HOMEMADE COCONUT OIL SUNSCREEN RECIPE by Jessica Espinoza at www.deliciousobsessions.com Ingredients * 1/4 cup coconut oil * 1/4 cup shea butter * 1/8 cup sesame or jojoba oil * 2 tbsp. beeswax granules * 1-2 tbsp. zinc oxide powder (optional) * 1 tsp. red raspberry seed oil * 20-30 drops carrot seed essential oil * Essential oils of your choice (lavender, rosemary, vanilla, and/or peppermint are nice) Instructions 1. Using a double boiler (or a small pan over very low heat), melt your coconut oil, sesame or jojoba oil, beeswax, and shea butter together. The beeswax will be the last to melt. 2. When the beeswax is melted, remove the mixture from the heat and let cool to room temperature. If you’re using zinc oxide, whisk it in at this point, being careful not to create a lot of dust. If there are some lumps, that’s OK. They will break up when you whip the body butter in step 4. 3. Move the mixture to the fridge for 15-30 minutes. You want it to start to set up, but still be soft enough to whip. 4. Take the mixture out of the fridge and using a stand mixer or hand mixer, start to whip it. Drizzle in the red raspberry seed oil, the carrot seed oil, and any essential oils of your choice, and continue whipping until the mixture is light and fluffy. 5. Use as you would any regular sunscreen. Application rates will depend on your activity and exposure to water. Store in a glass container in the fridge between uses.

How to Make Lavender Oil at Home One of the most popular multi-purpose essential oils is lavender oil. Learning how to make lavender oil at home is an extremely easy process. Keep reading to understand the steps... Just to clarify, this is a lavender INFUSED oil, which is not the same thing as a distilled essential oil. But it's still quite lovely....
How to Make Lavender Oil at Home ********Actually this is Lavender INFUSED oil, not real Lavender Essential Oil, you don't want the carrier oil to get too hot bc It can ruin the properties in Lavender, It's best to skip the warming process, add a tsp of vodka to the carrier oil, place the jar in the sun for two days then in a cool, dark place for the rest of the month, shake twice a day, double strain w/ cheesecloth when done.

Homemade Whipped Shea (or Cocoa) Butter Body Scrub Recipe 1/2 Cup Raw Shea Butter 1/3 Cup Carrier Oil (Sweet Almond, apricot Kernel, Avocado, Hemp Seed, Hazelnut, Camellia, Evening Primrose, Borage, or Olive Oil infused with Calendula or Chamomile are all good choices) (I use Safflower Oil) 1/8 tsp. Rosemary Extract or Vitamin E Oil (optional but will help to prolong the life of the oils) (I do add Vitamin E) 1 tsp. Corn Starch (optionalmakes the butter feel less greasy) (I substitute Arrowroot for the cornstarch, which is good for corn allergies). Essential or Fragrance oil (optional) (I use Pure Essential Oils: Lavender, Grapefruit, Peppermint and Rosemary are my favorites, just not all mixed together). 1/2 1 Cup Sugar (other choices include Salt, Finely Ground Nuts, Coffee Groundsanything that provides a gentle scrub) (I use 1 full cup of either salt or sugar. Salt can be a little harsh though on freshly shaved legs, so be careful!) Skin Safe Color Place the Shea butter in a mixing bowl and begin to beat with a stand mixer or electric hand mixer until the butter is creamy. Have patienceit may take awhile for the friction of the beaters to soften the butter. If the butter is too hard, soften slightly in the microwave for about 15 seconds but do not melt. Gradually add the carrier oil a small amount at a time and blend completely between additions. This is important or you will get lumpy butter. If you are adding Rosemary Extract or Vitamin E oil add it now. Blend in the cornstarch and then the fragrance or essential oil. Slowly start to mix in the sugar a little at a time until you achieve the desired consistency. Spoon into a couple of wide mouth jars.

Luxurious homemade lotion recipe There are endless variations, but some of my favorites are: Calendula and Chamomile for baby Rosewater and Almond Oil Peppermint, Wintergreen and Ginger for sore muscles Coconut and Calendula for face Mint and green tea Lavender and vanilla I’ve included my basic recipe below. You can customize by making different herbal bases in the liquid, using different oils, or even using cocoa butter or shea butter for half of the oil if you like more of a body butter consistency. Organic Homemade Lotion Basic Ingredients: 1/4 cup of oil of choice (almond and coconut are good choices- coconut will make more of a body butter texture) 1 tablespoon of beeswax 1/3 cup distilled water, or brewed herbal infusion of choice (To make: boil distilled water, add herbs you are using and let sit until mostly cool) 1 tsp Vitamin E oil (important-to preserve) Essential oils of choice (optional) NOTE: I get my oils, beeswax, cocoa butter, etc from Mountain Rose Herbs How to Make: In a double boiler (use an old bowl over a small saucepan that has water in it) put the oil and beeswax and stir over medium heat until the beeswax has just melted. Remove from heat, add the vitamin E oil and essential oils and stir to combine. Make sure water or herbal infusion is slightly warm but not hot (important step or the lotion won’t emulsify) Put the water/herbal infusion in a blender or food processor and turn on high. VERY SLOWLY add the oil mixture, starting with a drop at a time. Continually drizzle the oil mixture into the blender until all poured in. Check consistency and blend more if needed. Store in a glass jar (or pump bottle if you use almond oil and have a thin enough consistency). Lasts up to two-months out of the fridge or up to 6 months in the fridge.
