I really have to think about doing this with my built-ins in the family room--- maybe with beadboard instead?

Shiplap walls in bookcase, but change the shelving to match the wood within the pantry; consistent idea throughout. Bookcase on both sides of the brick mantle; no working fireplace though, just decorative.

The original fireplace brick was painted white and shiplap paneling with a natural wood mantle was installed. The living room is staged with French Country  accessories, books, and bright linen window treatments, as seen on HGTV's Fixer Upper.
