After cutting out rounds of cookie dough, create a pattern by using the bottom of a fancy glass.  Simply dip the glass in some flour, then press the glass into the cookie dough to create an imprint.  Use a pastry brush to remove the excess flour from the cookie.

Vinegar works as a wood stain when you add a metal object in the mix and let it sit in a glass container for a week.  A handful of pennies will produce a beautiful pale Caribbean blue stain.  A wad of steel wool will give you a rich reddish hue.  A combination of tea and a metal object in vinegar will produce a black stain. Log this away for later.. This seems really smart and cheap!

Remove a splinter easily by applying a paste of baking soda and water, then waiting several minutes for the splinter to pop out of the skin. Gotta remember this!

Baking soda neutralizes the pH in the soil so nothing will grow there. You can use it in a 6" wide area around the edges of flower beds to keep the grass & weeds from growing there. Just sprinkle it onto the soil so that it covers it lightly. Needs to be done in spring & fall.
