The Hedging of the Cuckoo, egg tempera on gesso coated wood panel, JAMES LYNCH has depicted the Somerset and Wiltshire countryside from a distinct aerial perspective, inspired by years of soaring the skies with his paraglider. Many of the paintings are pure dramatic panoramas drenched in light, whilst other aerial views provide the backdrop for his birds and animals, which fill the foreground and bring a playful naivety and narrative to the landscapes.

'Derbyshire Walls', tempera on canvas by Harry Epworth Allen, 1930s

St. Moses the Black, an Ethiopian. Lived in the fourth century. Originally from Ethiopia, he was the servant of a rich nobleman who banished him for bad behavior. Not wanting to earn an honest living, he headed a gang of robbers. Moses spent several years as a thief, living a sinful life, but by God’s great mercy he repented. Spending many years in monastic struggle, St. Moses was ordained to the diaconate and later to the priesthood, serving in this rank for fifteen years.

Les yeux sont souvent grands : la présence, la vie. A l’étape du dessin, on met en place la forme de l’œil, mais pas le regard. L’icône ne doit pas être chargée d’émotion. Le regard est posé en dernier lieu.

The Dancing Saints Icon Project. The Dancing Saints icon is a monumental, surprising and powerful statement of faith for the ages, created by iconographer Mark Dukes with the people of Saint Gregory of Nyssa Episcopal Church in San Francisco. Twelve years in the making, it is a 3,000 square foot icon wrapping around the entire church rotunda, showing ninety larger-than life saints; four animals; stars, moons, suns and a twelve-foot dancing Christ.
