"You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view . . . until you climb into his skin and walk around in it" - Atticus Finch to Scout in To Kill a Mockingbird (1962) - The ultimate introduction to how there are discerning people at all times. . . and History proves it! #book #covers #jackets #portadas #libros

Caleb's Crossing - read this in January 2013. Good read.

Caleb's Crossing, Geraldine Brooks. Book club book. How do I tell them that I really don't like Geraldine Brooks?
First native American Indian to graduate from Harvard University in late 1600's. Very interesting historical fiction.
Historical fiction about the first Native American who attended Harvard. Geraldine Brooks is a great writer.
March Book Club - Once again, the author takes a remarkable shard of history and brings it to vivid life. In 1665, a young man from Martha's Vineyard became the first Native American to graduate from Harvard College. Upon this slender factual scaffold, she has created a luminous tale of love and faith, magic and adventure.
Caleb's Crossing is a beautifully written piece of historical fiction, based on the true story of a Native American at Harvard in the 1660's.
Caleb's Crossing: A Novel - this will be the first one our book club will read in August. Interesting historical fiction with links to Martha's Vinyard and the Wompanaug tribe.
My favorite book of the year, beautiful. I also fell in love with Bethia, the narrator.
Historical Fiction--This book may be on a lot of book club lists already — but with good reason. Dr. Swenson, who has probably been in the rain forest just a little too long, is pushing the ethical boundaries of science with her research. The moral questions that Patchett raises, the revelations about the research that seep out gradually, the relationship between these two women, the choices they make, and the ramifications of those choices are ripe for endless discussion and debate. Combine that with Patchett's vivid and voluptuous descriptions of the mystery, beauty and dangers of the rain forest, and you have a practically perfect book club book.

A Mississippi Congressman who belongs to the Republican House has sent copies of the Holy Bible to all members of the United States Congress. Rep. Steven Palazzo of Mississippi sent the Good Book along with a note including the official Congress letterhead. “On a daily basis, we contemplate policy decisions that impact America’s future. “However, I find that the best advice comes through meditating on God’s Word. Please find a copy of the Holy Bible to help guide you in your decision-making.”

Arguably one of my favorite authors and one of my favorite books. This one is in graphic novel form. Needs this.
The Alchemist: A Graphic Novel A graphic novel adaptation of Paulo Coelho's sublime masterpiece. The full-colour illustrations help bring this modern classic to life, and allows readers to experience Coelho's tale of the poor Andalusian shepherd boy and the lessons he learners in his travel in a different way.
The alchemist, a graphic novel. Amazing adaptation of the novel. Though not quite as in depth as the book itself I still personally enjoyed it.
A graphic novel retelling of Paul Coelho's "The Alchemist" in which Santiago, an Andalusian shepherd boy, sets out from his home in Spain to the Egyptian desert in search of buried treasure, but, through his encounters with a Gypsy woman, a man who calls himself a king, and an alchemist, he learns the value of the treasures found within himself. http://bit.ly/1Dd4zck to read more or check out the book

Doctor Zhivago by Boris Pasternak. Russian Revolution (with trepidation) http://www.worldcat.org/oclc/679916738
Doctor Zhivago by Boris Pasternak http://www.amazon.com/dp/0679774386/ref=cm_sw_r_pi_dp_WtgOtb0MD70G7RCE
One of my favorite books - one of my favorite movies. I've met Omar Shariff...may I say: WOW :)
Doctor Zhivago is the story of the life and loves of a poet/physician during the turmoil of the Russian Revolution. Taking his family from Moscow to what he hopes will be shelter in the Ural Mountains, Zhivago finds himself instead embroiled in the battle between the Whites and the Reds. Set against this backdrop of cruelty and strife is Zhivago's love for the tender and beautiful Lara, the very embodiment of the pain and chaos of those cataclysmic times.
Dr. Zhivago, a novel by Boris Pasternak named after its protagonist, Yuri Zhivago, a physician and poet. It takes place between the Russian Revolution of 1905 and World War II. Due to its depiction of the October Revolution, the novel was refused publication in the USSR. The manuscript was smuggled to Milan and published in 1957. Pasternak was given the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1958, enraging the Soviet Communist Party. Pasternak had to decline the prize but is still considered the winner.
Doctor Zhivago by Boris Pasternak... One of my favorite books. It's Russian, so of course there is a tragic element to it, but it's seriously one the best books. It takes place in Russia before, during, and after the Revolution. It's about a man named Yury Zhivago who is swept up in the tumult of his country's struggles, as well as his own. He first falls in love with his childhood friend Tania, but even that is eclipsed when he meets the beautiful and mysterious Lara. It's an amazing book.

Jane Eyre-my all time favorite book. Mr Rochester-swoon. Love the chemistry between the characters.
Mr. Rochester: "Sometimes I have the strangest feeling about you. Especially when you are near me as you are now. It feels as though I had a string tied here under my left rib where my heart is, tightly knotted to you in a similar fashion. And when you go to Ireland, with all that distance between us, I am afraid that this cord will be snapped, and I shall bleed inwardly." - Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte - One of my favourite books. V
