Doctrina Christiana (1593). The first book printed in the Philippines, the Doctrina Christiana presents basic Roman Catholic doctrine not only in Spanish but also in Tagalog, which later became the national language of the Philippines. Written by the Franciscan Friar Juan de Plasencia and printed with wood blocks by the Dominican Order in Manila, the Doctrina Christiana held by the Library is the only known surviving copy. Norman Ikari, Camp Grant, IL, 1942 - Asian Pacific Americans have made lasting contributions to America’s wartime efforts. These 7 stories are from World War II, Korea, Vietnam, & Iraq, with special emphasis on the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, the “Go for Broke” outfit of Japanese-Americans who fought valiantly in Europe during WW II. Many put their lives on the line for their country while their families were confined to internment camps back in the States. Veterans History Project.

Completed in 1611, it combines Chinese and Korean medical writings on disease and treatment, and covers topics such as pediatrics, gynecology, acupuncture, surgery, and general medicine.
