simple loom for weaving

Review: Clover Weaving Sticks | The Zen of Making
Each loom is handcrafted by myself and hubby (it is a delight to work together!), using reclaimed lumber. Weaving on a peg loom is super simple and fun. I have had children as young as 5 using these looms with great success! The number of pegs you use determines the width (can be as narrow as 2 pegs for straps, belts, bracelets, etc. up to the full width of 10 inches) , and the length of yarn (rainbow pictured) determines the length of project you can make (can go as long as you like!). Peg loom comes with all needed pegs (17) plus 2 extra and easy to follow written instructions for use. You can weave using a single piece of yarn - up to 4-5 strands of yarn at one time, try wool pencil rovings, or t shirt material, or other strips of fabric. Items to create with the loom include (but not limited to): bracelets, necklaces, headbands, straps for bags/purses; scarfs, doll blankets, shawls, table runners. Use thicker t shirt material cut into strips as your weaving material and make durable rugs. A favorite for the children's classes I teach is to weave a bit of cloth that will measure 4 inches wide and 18 inches long. Remove the finished material from the loom and fold the material into thirds to create a little pocket with a flap (will need to sew the sides together). Kids love having this little pocket/bag to store their treasures in. Then they often weave a 2 peg strap to attach to the pocket so the can wear it like a bag/purse.
