Departure of the “Amerigo Vespucci”, Egypt, 1963 ~ love is a crazy thing
Departure of the “Amerigo Vespucci”, Egypt, 1963 - Such a powerful photo
Departure of the “Amerigo Vespucci”, Egypt, 1963 ... – Facie Populi ™ I absolutely love this picture. It depicts the dedication and the passion that are found in a couple that truly loves each other. <3 Love can withstand all other forces that try to tear two people apart. Just stay strong, and remember, goodbye isn't forever. -Heather #couples
Real Photo but Hoax: Often called “The Last kiss”, this photo is sometimes shared as a picture from World War II or, less wrongly, captioned as the 1963 departure of the Amerigo Vespucci from Egypt. The real location is Italy. The 1963 route of this Italian training ship can be found online. Italian speakers can read the story of this trip by photographer Roberto Borra.

Douglas Fairbanks Boosting Charlie Chaplin to Boost the Liberty Loan, Wall Street. A Liberty Bond was a war bond that was sold in the United States to support the allied cause in World War I. Subscribing to the bonds became a symbol of patriotic duty in the United States and introduced the idea of financial securities to many citizens for the first time. The Act of Congress which authorized the Liberty Bonds is still used today as the authority under which all U.S. Treasury bonds are issued.

Reminds me of the old photos of my hometown
Loggers in the densely forested northern California area, 1915 (736×570) .....this is exactly like the logging photos of yesteryear taken near me in Gippsland Australia.......it's so sad to see old growth forests destroyed by the ignorance and arrogance of man. Westerners have so much to learn from Indigenous cultures yet it's these very things-ignorance and arrogance-that have played such a huge part in this not happening........
RARE HISTORICAL PHOTOS...many from alternative points of view... those photos and descriptions that tell us what it was like to be there and, perhaps, surprise us with something we didn't know and haven't seen. Albert Einstein, child laborers in the 1880's, Martin Luther King, Jr., the Beatles, construction of Disney World and the Statue of Liberty, the original Ronald McDonald, and much. much more...must see!
I just watched that X Files where the men cut down a huge tree and these glowing green bugs suck everyone dry. Scared me the first time round I saw it, scared me this time too.

I just liked this image of Victorian women daring to smoke and wear men's clothing. Irene Adler comes to mind.
group of women having a smoke, gelatin silver print, c. 1896 I'm seeing this quote attached to this picture: "One of the most feared of all London's street gangs in the late 1880's was a group of female toughs known as the Clockwork Oranges. They would later inspire Anthony Burgess' most notorious novel." but as far as I can find out, it's entirely made up.

Article about the actual diversity of history, even if that's not what historians focused on, and how this intersects with what is and is not accepted in historical fiction and SF/Fantasy.
