CLEAN YOUR MATTRESS: pour about 1 cup of baking soda into a mason jar and drop in 4 drops of lavender essential oil. Put on lid and shake jar. Using a kitchen strainer sprinkle the baking soda mixture all over the mattress and let it sit for an hour or more. Thoroughly vacuum the mattress. Bye, bye dust mites and other nasty things. The baking soda helps draw up any moisture and deep dirtiness. It deodorizes and leaves the mattress smelling fresh and clean. Totally doing this!!
You can add a pinch of salt to your laundry to keep colors vibrant. It seems like every laundry detergent makes claims to keep colors lasting for a long time, but the easiest trick is to add a tablespoon of salt to the load. The premise is that the chloride in salt helps keeps clothes bright by sealing in the color across repeated washings. Salt also contains the power to remove bloodstains, but it turns out it's a great protector of clothes as well.
Get rid of scorch marks on your glass top stove-Pinner says "Ok, I just tried this and it seriously did work. I did it twice on a burner that's had scorch marks for a year or more and they're gone! This really works!!!"
De-tarnish ALL your silver ALL at once... line your sink with aluminum foil, add 1/2 c table salt, 1/2 c. baking soda, fill with hot water, then dump in all your silver! Let sit for about 30 min. The tarnish all transfers to the foil! Thanks, Susan Branch!
THIS REALLY WORKS AND LAUNDRY IS SUPER SOFT!!! Soak a hand towel in fabric softener. Squeeze out any remaining drops from the towel. Hang it over a chair (or outside on a clothes line) to dry. My house smelled super clean for the three days while this towel was drying completely. Yes, it took three days! You must make sure it dries completely! After the towel dries you just throw it in your dryer along with clothes and use it as a dryer sheet for 40-50 loads before soaking again.
original pinner: I created this so that I don't have to spend my life cleaning. With about 30 minutes a day (or less) I can have a sparkling clean house all the time! It will be laminated and hanging up where I can always see it. Hopefully this will help you too. Enjoy!
1. Fill tub with hot water to a couple inches above jets. 2. Pour in about a half cup of bleach and a tablespoon of powdered cascade dishwashing detergent 3. Run the jets for 15 minutes with the air knob thing open all the way so it gives the highest turbulence 4. observe gunk and try not to choke 8] 5. empty tub 6. Refill with cold water to above jets 7. Run jets to rinse - 10 minutes Do this twice a month.
BEST soap scum remover!! This REALLY works well. After trying a few other Pinterest suggestions, I made this. It's odd, but it's GREAT. Make a vinegar "gel" by thickening vinegar with cornstarch. The vinegar CLINGS to what ever you spray it on...thus gives it more time to work. A little detergent cuts grease. I heated 1 cup of vinegar and 1 T corn starch in the microwave for 2 minutes. Add 2 T dish detergent and put it in a spay bottle. Spray. Wait 1hr. Wipe. Rinse. pipesensei
