Windows of Tudor Houses: To make a pane of glass was a time consuming and painstaking process which made the use of glass so expensive. The small pieces of glass for the windows of 15th and 16th century houses were joined together with lead. The leaded window panes were constructed in a in a criss-cross or ‘lattice’, pattern and became a feature of 15th and 16th century Houses. Casement windows were attached to a hinge which opened outwards.

Casement Windows Although some Tudor homes feature double-hung windows, they almost always have at least one set of casement windows. The windows also are usually tall and narrow, typically have multiple panes and are often clustered together. Truly authentic Tudor houses usually feature at least one set of leaded glass windows, in which metal casings hold together the individual panes as in the window above. Stone mullions, like the ones above, often separate casements.
