It is the One who brings out their army by number; He calls them all by name. Because of his vast dynamic energy and his awe-inspiring power, Not one of them is missing.

lagoon nebula, a cloud of gas and dust in outer space, visible in the night sky either as an indistinct bright patch or as a dark silhouette against other luminous matter. a clouded spot on the cornea causing defective vision.
The Lagoon Nebula is known by a few other names: Messier 8, M8, and NGC 6523. This nebula is known as an emission nebula. It is one of only two star forming nebula that can be seen with the unaided eye in the northern latitudes. It is an interstellar cloud that is located in the Sagittarius constellation and it has an H II region. It was discovered by Guilliaume Le Gentil in 1747. brought to you by www.JoshCampbellPhoto.com

NGC 2359, better known as the Thor's Helmet nebula, is actually more like an interstellar bubble, blown as a fast wind from the bright, massive star near the bubble's center sweeps through a surrounding molecular cloud. The central star is an extremely hot giant Wolf-Rayet star, thought to be in a brief, pre-supernova stage of evolution. It lies about 15,000 light years from Earth in the constellation Canis Major, measuring about 30 light years.

The central star is an extremely hot giant Wolf-Rayet star, thought to be in a brief, pre-supernova stage of evolution. It lies about 15,000 light years from Earth in the constellation Canis Major, measuring about 30 light years. It is one of the best known Wolf-Rayet nebular structures, along with NGC 6888, and the name Thor's Helmet is due to its remarkable resemblance to depictions of the headwear donned by the famed Norse god of thunder. This INT image captures striking details of the nebula's filamentary structures. The bluish colour remarks the strong emission due to oxygen atoms in the glowing gas. In fact, it can be visually seen with telescopes of moderate aperture using an [OIII] narrow-band filter. This image of the Thor's Helmet nebula or NGC 2359 was obtained using the Wide Field Camera on the Isaac Newton Telescope (INT). It is a three-colour composite made from data collected using filters to isolate the light emitted by hydrogen alpha (H-alpha), doubly-ionised oxygen (OIII) and single-ionised sulfur (SII) atoms, and coded in the image as red, green and blue respectively.

M42: Inside the Orion Nebula Image Credit: R. Villaverde, Hubble Legacy Archive, NASA Explanation: The Great Nebula in Orion, an immense, nearby starbirth region, is probably the most famous of all astronomical nebulas. Here, glowing gas surrounds hot young stars at the edge of an immense interstellar molecular cloud only 1500 light-years away. In the above deep image composite in assigned colors taken by the Hubble Space Telescope wisps and sheets of dust and gas are particularly evident.

CELESTIAL FIREWORKS Resembling the puffs of smoke and sparks from a summer fireworks, these delicate filaments are actually sheets of debris from a stellar explosion in a neighboring galaxy. Hubble's target was a supernova remnant within the Large Magellanic Cloud, a nearby, small companion galaxy to the Milky Way visible from the southern hemisphere. Denoted N 49, this remnant is from a massive star that died in a supernova blast whose light would have reached Earth thousands of years ago.

…✪… A hidden treasure in the Large Magellanic Cloud Nearly 200 000 light-years from Earth, the Large Magellanic Cloud, a satellite galaxy of the Milky Way, floats in space, in a long and slow dance around our galaxy. As the Milky Way’s gravity gently tugs on its neighbour’s gas clouds, they collapse to form new stars. In turn, these light up the gas clouds in a kaleidoscope of colours, visible in this image from the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope. Credit: NASA, ESA.
