One of Jimmy's favorite things to do is cut the grass. He loves a well kept yard. Since he can't ride a lawnmower yet we had to find someone else to do it so we don't wear out our sons. If you're looking for someone to do your lawn check out DeMaxx Lawn and Landscaping. Chevy and Sam are a great professional team and have very reasonable rates.
When your son kick starts your left brain after being retired for 5 years from using Excel, one realizes it's good to be able to use both sides of the brain equally. But it may take awhile to get back in my creative groove. I'll just have to figure out a new schedule to turn off my logical side. Now I'll probably start dreaming about columns of numbers again. #rightbrain #leftbrain #equalminded
I was wearing the mask my sister made me at the produce stand and a customer wanted to buy some. So I contacted her to see if she has any extras. She did! $15 each. The Olson pattern facemask is made with 2 layers of 100% cotton with a pocket for an additional filter. PM2.5 filters will fit but do not come with them. The design allows you to let it hang around your neck until you need it. Also has removable wire for washing. Hand or machine wash on gentle cycle and lay on a towel to dry. They ha
My granny used to make a fresh pitcher of tea every morning and it was gone by the end of the day. Her secret was a glass pitcher, 1/2 cup of sugar, a half fresh rolled lemon and stir with a wooden spoon. I've cut back on our sugar intake so I only use none or a quarter cup depending on my mood. And there's no need to refrigerate just add ice to it. Try @tettimersproducestand lemons for your next pitcher of tea. #freshproduce
Celebrating some good news. Jim's cancer presented as a stage 3 but he is stage 1. A very painful blessing in disguise. So I bought some almost top shelf tequila to make us some margaritas with fresh limes from @tettimersproducestand. I'm going to cut them on my @maryloutroutman mermaid cutting board.
I wrote this 4 years ago and it popped up in my memories. I've seen so many more crowns in the last month than I can count so I'm sharing it again. . . Crowns 5/31/2016 I see invisible crowns on everyday people. It's not that I see something that others don't see...others just don't imagine holographic crowns sitting on everyday people's heads like I do. Rays of energy that create an aura above and around the person, emitted from within their very being. Positive vibrations gifted to anyone wh
My husband cleaned out one of his drawers this morning and found these old coins tucked away...he gave them to me to make jewelry. I'm seeing bracelet buttons and hair ties coming sometime when I get back in my studio. He's getting stronger every day. #fuckcancer
*Give Away Time!* Winner will have their pick of any item in my Etsy Shop. (Sorry for the long winded post. The contest rules are at the end.) Last time I had a give away I had only 3 names to draw from. I'm hoping for more this time. 🤗 A few weeks ago I got my letter from the state to renew my trade name registration. It needs to be renewed every five years. What never dawned on me until today was that this renewal marks my 10 year anniversary making jewelry under the trade name A Mermaid's H
This pendant has been on my bench for quite awhile finished except for wrapping the pearl drop. It represents the beauty and the beast of the Chesapeake Bay. A fossilized shark tooth from the Cliffs of Calvert and a blue aquoia pearl. The antithesis between the voracious shark and the meek sedentary oyster or clam. Set in sterling and fine silver on an 18" leather necklace. Finished today $75. Contact me if interested. #pearl # aquoiapearl #shark #sharktooth #fossilizedsharktooth #cliffsofcalver
I am taking a leave of absence from trying to build an art and handmade jewelry business. It is hard being a one woman show and I gave it my all these last first 5 years of my retirement. My right hand man needs my undivided attention right now. My business has plateaued and even dropped a bit with all that's going on in the world anyway. I will continue to update my Etsy shop and share new work through IG and FB when I get something made but no more daily or weekly posts. I have also cancelled
Just a reminder that my mystery discount of 10% to 50% for friends and family will expire on Mother's Day. This includes customers who have purchased from me in the past. 🌊 After Mother's Day I will no longer be offering discounts of any type. I price my handmade jewelry well below show and brick and mortar shop prices and my craftsmanship should command higher prices. My business has become very much a needed supplemental income rather than just a way to replenish supplies for my art. I hope
