It embodies creator Soichiro Fukutake’s ideal of harmonizing art and nature, starting with Naoshima.  on neighboring Teshima island, gleaming white concrete grotto harks back to a more primitive way of dwelling—two oval openings in the ceiling allow light, wind and rain into the building, gently coaxing visitors into direct communion with the elements.
