Maine September Sunset by Elizabeth Dow
September sunsets are amazing. While out on a portrait photography session in Winslow Park in Freeport Maine, I stayed for a little bit to capture this amazing purple and pink sunset. I could just soak up all this loveliness all day long. It was a once in a lifetime experience. Summer is coming to a close here in Maine and soon the leaves will be changing color, but for now, we still have the most stellar sunsets around. Maine is dreamlike in September and all year long.
Birch Trees of Jesup Path by Elizabeth Dow
How many times have I walked this path only to be in awe of the magnificent birch trees all in a row? Too many to count, I would say. This is the famous Jesup Path over by the Sieur de Monts Spring and the Wild Acadian Gardens. You really shouldn't miss any of these locations while visiting Acadia National Park. I think the best time to visit the Jesup Path and the Acadian Gardens would be in the afternoon when the crowds have left the park and are now exploring Bar Harbor. I took this photo abo
Perkins Cove Footbridge by Elizabeth Dow
There have been so many times that I just wanted to walk around Ogunquit and explore her little nooks and crannies. Well...I finally had my chance in October of 2019. It was a glorious autumn day that turned into a glorious autumn evening. The boats were still in the water creating this quintessential Maine image. If you haven't been to Perkins Cove in Ogunquit Maine, please visit. Eat lunch or dinner at Foot Bridge Lobster. It has the BEST lobster roll. It is a counter service establishment, bu
You're My Inspiration by Elizabeth Dow
My husband and I decided to drive south along the Maine coast. We started in Cape Porpoise, then made our way to Kennebunkport where we stopped to explore Parson's Beach. We had never been here before. It was so beautiful. The ocean was particularly loud with all the crashing waves. We found this house at the end of the beach. It is called the Big House, which seems appropriate because it is in fact a very big house. I love the silhouette of the house and the trees protecting her. The sun was an

Dance of the Snow Fairies by Elizabeth Dow
It seems that no matter where I walk or drive or visit, I am always on the lookout for a photograph. I look to the large, grandiose photograph, but I also look for the subtle and inconsequential photograph that adds to the overall feeling of our adventure. This photograph was taken in my woods while cutting down our Christmas tree. I admired the light, blue snow and the tiny water droplets adhering to the white pine needles. The White Pine Tree is Maine's State tree. I have them growing all over
This Little Light of Mine by Elizabeth Dow
This is a maple tree in my back yard. It's branches are beautiful and the foliage on the tippy top of the tree is magnificent. But This tiny little branch caught my attention. It grows closer to the bottom of the tree. I just love how it sprung from the tree for some random reason. In any case, the yellow leaves remind me of the children's song, This Little Light of Mine. This branch with its colorful leaves is letting it's light shine for the world to see and appreciate. Here is the chorus of T
Independence Day Fireworks by Elizabeth Dow
The family and I were at the L.L. Bean 4th of July concert in Freeport Maine. It was a beautiful night. After the concert, we were treated to a short, but very pleasant fireworks show. I appreciated how short it was and actually how quiet it was because deep in my core, I am anti-fireworks because of how much they scare animals. This particular photo was a bit of a surprise to me when I brought it home to process. If you look very carefully, you will see the outline of a child's face looking ou
Boston Harbor II by Elizabeth Dow
Never too early to get your boats in the water for some people! I just loved this person hoisting themselves up the mast to attach the rigging on their boat. The water was still very cold as this photo was taken on May 17th! Brrrr....I wouldn't want to fall in that frigid water. These boats were all set to take sail. This scene is taken just off of Union Wharf in the financial district of Boston. Sailboats are so sleek and beautiful. I love how they cut through the water without any impediments.
