Erath pinot noir from Oregon has a subtle smokey minerality that is standard for the Willamette valley of its origin. Balsam wood, mushrooms and heirloom over-ripe plum. This earthy wine might not appeal to you, but it makes me want to slow dance on a hardwood floor in front of a roaring fire.
