She is recognized for bringing French cuisine to the American public with her debut cookbook, Mastering the Art of French Cooking, and her subsequent television programs, the most notable of which was The French Chef, which premiered in 1963. Her kitchen is on display at the National Museum of American History

Marguerite Duras, French writer. She was born in Saigon, At 17 she went to France studying for a degree in law. During the war, from 1942 to 1944, she worked for the Vichy government in an office that allocated paper to publishers (in the process operating a de facto book censorship system), but she was also a member of the French Resistance.
Marguerite Donnadieu, known as Marguerite Duras ( born 4 April 1914 Gia -Dinh,Saigon, French Indochina (now Vietnam) – died 3 March 1996 (aged 81) Paris, France), was a French writer and film director. The surname of Duras, is a village in the Lot-et-Garonne département where her father's house was located and she decided to use as pen name.

Marguerite Duras, French writer, b: in Saigon, At 17 she went to France studying for a degree in law. She was the author of many novels including best-selling The Lover,autobiographical work,after an affair between the teenaged Marguerite and a Chinese man.
Marguerite Duras (French: 4 April 1914 – 3 March 1996), was a French writer and film director. She was born in Saigon, French Indochina (now Vietnam). She was a writer and filmmaker. Her best-selling, apparently autobiographical work was L'Amant (1984), or The Lover. It won the Goncourt prize. Other major works include Moderato Cantabile, also made into a film of the same name, Le Ravissement de Lol V. Stein, and her play India Song, which Duras herself later directed as a film (1975).
