Possibly the Youngest Galaxy Ever Seen, an irregular dwarf galaxy about 45 million light-years away is seen in this image from NASA. NASA/ESA/A. Schaller Phroyd

NASA Hubble Sombrero Galaxy Viewing this galaxy from the side is a completely different experience from most of the other views of surrounding galaxies. This galaxy is massive - over light-years across!

This Hubble Space Telescope image shows U Camelopardalis, a star nearing the end of its life located in the constellation of Camelopardalis (The Giraffe), near the North Celestial Pole. As it begins to run low on fuel, it is becoming unstable. Every few thousand years, it coughs out a nearly spherical shell of gas as a layer of helium around its core begins to fuse.
