So few modern recordings are "albums." Back in the day, a collection of songs was considered a whole work. I came of age in the '70s, when the 8-track tape ruled. You had to listen to the entire album to get to the song you bought the album for, forcing you to hear songs you never would have heard otherwise. I consider an album a favorite if I'm in love with 90%+ of the songs, it was influential or significant in my life, and/or if the music holds up over time.
