The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt - Definitely worth reading. Parts of it I loved, parts of it I hated. But whatever I think it's beautifully written, amazingly insightful and thought provoking.

The Girl in the Spider's Web: A Lisbeth Salander novel, continuing Stieg Larsson's Millennium Series - by David Lagercrantz. Full fledged rant against this book. Hated it! More characters and more Swedish street names than in the first 3 books combined. Story was stilted and badly told.

The Girl in the Spider's Web: A Lisbeth Salander novel, continuing Stieg Larsson's Millennium Series (The Millennium Trilogy Book 4) - Kindle edition by David Lagercrantz. Mystery, Thriller & Suspense Kindle eBooks @ AmazonSmile.
The Girl in the Spider's Web: A Lisbeth Salander novel, continuing Stieg Larsson's Millennium Series by David Lagercrantz. Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist return! She is the girl with the dragon tattoo. He is the crusading journalist who champions the truth. This novel is true to the spirit of the characters Steig Larsson created and I'm hoping there will be more from Lagercrantz in the future of Blomkvist and Salander.
The Girl in the Spider’s Web by David Lagercrantz The Girl in the Spider’s Web is the fourth book in the Millennium series, and reintroduces readers to two of the most iconic protagonists in contemporary fiction, Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist. “Stieg Larsson was a master at creating complex narratives,” said David Lagercrantz, “narratives made all the more forceful because of the journalistic authority with which they were originally written. That was something that informed my approach to book four, and I’m confident Millennium readers will identify with the storylines in Spider’s Web.” The storylines, of course, include hacking and corruption, but Lagercrantz suggests “there are some surprises in store for readers as well, including the introduction of Silicon Valley as a locale and a character from the National Security Agency in a central role. There are even symbols and code.” In retrospect, admits Lagercrantz, “this is some of the hardest and most rewarding work I’ve done as a writer.”

Dean Koontz. On my list of to reads...
Worth Reading, Books Worth, Dean O'Gorman, Year, Dean Koontz, Darkest Evening
The Darkest Evening of the Year: Dean Koontz: This man gets the human canine connection and describes it painterly well.
The Darkest Evening of the Year, by Dean Koontz Pretty good book. I mostly liked it because a golden retriever was the protagonist. #snout #thriller #paranormal #goodread #goodbook #bookworm
The Darkest Evening of the Year by Dean Koontz. Golden Retrievers are the hook. What's not to be intrigued?
The Darkest Evening of the Year by Dean Koontz -I've liked Dean Koontz novels previously, but this drove me a crazy. Too many story lines going simultaneously. Every chapter is a different story. Wanting to see what's next is what keeps me reading. With all the "channel changing", it was easy to put down when each chapter I have to figure out who we're talking about now. I LOVE dogs, have rescued several, but the obvious "educating of the reader" was sometimes over the top. The end was abrupt.
"The Darkest Evening of the Year" by Dean Koontz (yes, it's a line from Robert Frost)
Dean Koontz: he isn't Stephen King but it doesn't mean he isn't worth reading
The Darkest Evening Of the Year, BY: Dean Koontz
Amy Redwing has dedicated her life to the southern California organization she founded to rescue abandoned and endangered golden retrievers. Among dog lovers, she’s a legend for the risks she’ll take to save an animal from abuse. Among her friends, Amy’s heedless devotion is often cause for concern. To widower Brian McCarthy, whose commitment she can’t allow herself to return, Amy’s behavior is far more puzzling and hides a shattering secret. No one is surprised when Amy risks her life to save Nickie, nor when she takes the female golden into her home. The bond between Amy and Nickie is immediate and uncanny. Even her two other goldens, Fred and Ethel, recognize Nickie as special, a natural alpha. But the instant joy Nickie brings is shadowed by a series of eerie incidents. An ominous stranger. A mysterious home invasion. And the unmistakable sense that someone is watching Amy’s every move and that, whoever it is, he’s not alone. Someone has come back to turn Amy into the desperate, hunted creature she’s always been there to save. But now there’s no one to save Amy and those she loves. From its breathtaking opening opening scene to its shocking climax, The Darkest Evening of the Year is Dean Koontz at his finest, a transcendent thriller certain to have readers turning pages until dawn. -It's so difficult to put this one down, I was hooked from the beginning. Again, Koontz doesn't disappoint.

The Story of Edgar Sawtelle - David Wroblewski // Another pinner: "This writer is sooo good. He writes beautifully and will break your heart with this book. But it's definitely worth reading."
The Story of Edgar Sawtelle: A Novel (P.S.): David Wroblewski This was a strangely compelling read---mute boy, dogs, a farm, & a northern Wisconsin setting. Ending was not at all what I expected. Lovely prose--feel like you are THERE.
The Story of Edgar Sawtelle by David Wroblewski. A riveting family saga, The Story of Edgar Sawtelle explores the deep and ancient alliance between humans and dogs, and the power of fate through one boy’s epic journey into the wild.
Edgar Sawtelle - David Wroblewski Brilliant retelling of an ancient story - an epic tale of devotion, betrayal and courage . . . mute boy forced to flee into the wilderness of northern Wisconsin with his dogs, forced eventually to confront the mysteries and turmoil at home.

Bel Canto by Ann Patchett This is my most recommended reads and I haven't heard any disappointments. One of my favourites. One of my favorites, too~
Bel Canto - September 2011 Book Club Selection A wealthy Japanese businessman attends his birthday party in an unnamed country (Latin or South American) and becomes one of a roomful of hostages in an attempt to depose the current President. What follows is the story of the hostages and the captors as they try to coexist in an unexpected and seemingly hopeless situation. A very well told story that should be on everyone's reading list
Bel Canto by Ann Patchett Somewhere in South America, at the home of the country's vice president, a lavish birthday party is being held in honor of Mr. Hosokawa, a powerful Japanese businessman. Roxanne Coss, opera's most revered soprano, has mesmerized the international guests with her singing. It is a perfect evening — until a band of gun-wielding terrorists breaks in through the air-conditioning vents and takes the entire party hostage.
Bel Canto by Ann Patchett is a novel about Roxanne Coss, opera's most revered soprano, who has mesmerized the international guests of a lavish birthday party with her singing. It is a perfect evening -- until a band of gun-wielding terrorists breaks in through the air-conditioning vents and takes the entire party hostage. Joined by no common language except music, the 58 international hostages and their captors forge unexpected bonds. I highly recommend this book!

State of Wonder, by Anne Patchett Picked this as my book club choice as I thought it might lead to interesting discussions on fertility and morality. Unfortunately, the book itself was not very good - underdeveloped characters, contrived plot lines...ugh.
"State of Wonder," by Ann Patchett (Harper, $26.99). Patchetts thoughtful, gripping novel about a scientist sent to the Amazon jungle to track down a missing colleague grapples equally well with the unsavory behavior of Western pharmaceutical firms and the strange choices individuals make in the remote wilderness of their own conscience.
State of Wonder by Ann Patchett. Writing so realistic you'll be looking for anacondas under your bed!
State of Wonder by Ann Patchett, really enjoyed this, I heard it described as a modern day "heart of darkness"
State Of Wonder, by Ann Patchett. A researcher at a pharmaceutical company, Marina Singh journeys into the heart of the Amazonian delta to check on a field team that has been silent for two years--a dangerous assignment that forces Marina to confront the ghosts of her past.
State of Wonder, by Ann Patchett Describes the adventures of a female scientist who is on a mission to find her lost colleague and a former mentor in the Amazon Jungle. Find it at the library: http://alpha2.suffolk.lib.ny.us/record=b4343014~S29
State of Wonder by Ann Patchett - "When her research partner dies in the Amazon, Dr. Marina Singh agrees to go find out what happened. Her purpose is to find out for her boss what progress her former teacher is making on the drug under development. Marina finds that she has more strength and ability, as a doctor, friend, and human being, than she knew as she navigates the hazardous waters of the Amazon and her own psyche."

Awesome book!!! Stieg Larsson's seething heroine, Lisbeth Salander, once again finds herself paired with journalist Mikael Blomkvist on the trail of a sinister criminal enterprise. Only this time, Lisbeth must return to the darkness of her own past (more specifically, an event coldly known as "All the Evil") if she is to stay one step ahead--and alive. The Girl Who Played with Fire is a break-out-in-a-cold-sweat thriller that crackles with stunning twists and dismisse...
