Frida Khalo - El suicidio de Dortohy Hale - 1939
Suicide of Dorothy Hale, El Suicidio de Dorothy Hale, Frida Kahlo, Oil on masonite with painted wooden frame. Phoenix Art Museum, AZ. - One of Khalo´s most shocking and controversial paintings, painted in the style of an ¨ex-voto¨.
#fridakahlo "The Suicide of Dorothy Hale" evokes the uncanny, chilling fall of a body from a skyscraper in three stages, coming ever closer through—or against—hard air and wind, finally hitting the pavement. El suicidio de Dorothy Hale, óleo sobre masonite conmarco de madera pintada 60,4 x 48,6 cm. 1938/39. Una de las obras más polémicas de Frida Kahlo.

Self Portrait with Loose Hair- Frida Khalo
Self Portrait with Loose Hair - Frida Kahlo Artist Frida Kahlo was born on July 6, 1907, in Coyocoán, Mexico City, Mexico. Considered one of Mexico's greatest artists, Frida Kahlo began painting after she was severely injured in a bus accident. Kahlo later became politically active and married fellow communist artist Diego Rivera in 1929. She exhibited her paintings in Paris and Mexico before her death in 1954.
Chronic Pain, Diego Rivera, The Artists, Mexico Cities, Beds Rest, Frida Kahlo, Fridakahlo, Frida Khalo, Hope
Without Hope (1945) | by Frida Kahlo ~ A lack of appetite resulting from her many surgeries and numerous illnesses, left Frida very thin. Her doctor, Dr Eloesser, prescribed complete bed rest and a fattening diet of puréed food every two hours. In this painting, the artist portrays what she considered to be a "forced feeding" diet. The wooden structure that once held her canvases for painting now holds a funnel that continuously feeds her.

"Sin Esperanza," (Without Hope), 1945. Oil on canvas. Naïve Art (Primitivism), Surrealism. Collection of Dolores Olmedo, Mexico City. On back of the painting Frida inscribed the following entry: "A mí no me queda ya ni la menor esperanza….Todo se mueve al compás de lo que encierra la panza." ("Not the least hope remains for me....everything moves in step with what's in the belly.") Due to a lack of appetite and weight loss, Frida was given calorie dense, puréed food every two hours. #fridakahlo

Portrait of Doña Rosita Morillo, Retrato de Doña Rosita Morillo, Frida Kahlo
"Portrait of Dona Rosita Morillo" 1944 by Frida Kahlo I chose this painting mainly because of the movement in the background. Behind the woman, there are cacti and a variety of plants that intertwine and show rhythm and movement. Your eye follows the lines all behind her, which in return is a type of movement. The woman is the main source of emphasis, the rhythm and movement in the back help with that.

.istorically, very few women artists have attempted to create a personal visual cosmology….Kahlo’s painting is bursting with fecund life-forms. In the center of the canvas is a plant that metamorphoses into a sun with a weeping third eye….Above the sun is a fetus while below it is a skein of roots and leaves. The composition seethes with life bursting forth yet the color of the plants is austere, as in the late fall when growth subsides and winter begins in preparation for the next spring when l

Frida Kalho paintings, she always painted herself because of an accident that kept her in bed most of her life, her life is amazing, she is beyond styles, her art came from necessity and love of life.
little deer, by frida khalo 1946. frida khalo often used visual metaphors in order to conve sorrow, rathern than an expression here we see her peirced byn 9 arrows . Kahlo transformed her body into that of a deer to show fragility of her body. She also depicted her sufferings through the use of arrows, just like the portrayals in paintings or statues of the "Lady of Sorrows". The young stag and the branch beneath are the focal point of the painting. (bonnici, m 2012)
