The cure to boredom is books. There is no cure for books.
A rundown castle, a literary mystery, a love story, and lots of family secrets make for another great read by Kate Morton. Loved it!

Book Review: The Distant Hours by Kate Morton
A long lost letter arrives in the post and Edie Burchill finds herself on a journey to Milderhurst Castle, a great but moldering old house, where the Blythe spinsters live and where her mother was billeted 50 years before as a 13 year old child during WWII. The elder Blythe sisters are twins and have spent most of their lives looking after the third and youngest sister, Juniper, who hasn’t been the same since her fiance jilted her in 1941. Inside the decaying castle, Edie begins to unravel her mother’s past. But there are other secrets hidden in the stones of Milderhurst, and Edie is about to learn more than she expected. The truth of what happened in ‘the distant hours’ of the past has been waiting a long time for someone to find it.

Alison Bechdel’s "Fun Home" was a pop culture and literary phenomenon. Now, a second thrilling tale of filial sleuthery, this time about her mother: voracious reader, music lover, passionate amateur actor. Also a woman, unhappily married to a closeted gay man, whose artistic aspirations simmered under the surface of Bechdel's childhood, and who stopped touching or kissing her daughter good night, forever, when she was seven.

Alison Bechdel's new book, "Are You My Mother?"
Are You My Mother? by Alison Bechdel : phenomenal graphic novel. Not only is it worth reading for it's literary quality and compelling story, it's an insightful commentary on the relationship between mothers and daughters. Loved it.
Can't wait to read this. Not a graphic novel person, but I loved FUN HOUSE. #alisonbechdel
The works by Ann-Mari Forsberg have a strong narrative but also humour and are one of the most important works in the Swedish textile tradition. She was inspired by the feel of her childhood, growing up close to the pharmacy, and by the nature of the island of Gotland. This was intertwined with the old textile folk art tradition. She created her own style of composition with a bold and bright colour scheme.

When her four year old daughter informs her a sick man is in their yard, Honor Gillette rushes out to help him. But that "sick" man turns out to be Lee Coburn, the man accused of murdering seven people the night before. Dangerous, desperate, and armed, he promises Honor that she and her daughter won't be hurt as long as she does everything he asks. She has no choice but to accept him at his word.
Lethal - An excellent thriller.

But Honor soon discovers that even those close to her can't be trusted. Coburn claims that her beloved late husband possessed something extremely valuable that places Honor and her daughter in grave danger. Coburn is there to retrieve it -- at any cost. Sandra Brown is fast becoming my favorite author. What a great book!
One of my favorite books.
Alan Bradley has created greatness with 11-year-old Flavia de Luce, a sort of 'Harriet the Cyanide Expert.' Imagine Ramona Quimby in a quaint English town, as told by Shirley Jackson. Whip-smart and sweet as an arsenic popsicle, Flavia sets out to solve the mystery of the dead body in her garden, while trying to deal with fearsome librarians, bothersome older sisters, priceless missing stamps, and detestable custard pie along the way. Viva la Flavia!
I love this book!

The Flavia de Luce Mystery series are just fun to read!
This is a work of historical fiction in the time leading up to and including the first World War. It follows several families from different countries: Russian, English, German, and American and offers an interesting perspective on what happened during the war. I think I learned more about WWI from this book than I did in my high school history class! Although it's over a thousand pages, I couldn't put it down! I HIGHLY recommend it.
An amazing book!

Sounds good: “The Kitchen House makes the reader ponder issues of race in a reverse way, as we see what life was like for Irish orphan Lavinia within the servant community of a tobacco plantation. With characters that are both wonderful and horrible, this is a book that continues to make me think about human nature and cross-cultural relationships.” -- Susan Richmond,

Mary Stewart | The Crystal Cave (1970) | Arthurian Saga #1 | Born the bastard son of a Welsh princess who will not reveal to her son his father's true identity, Myridden Emrys -- or as he would later be known, Merlin -- leads a perilous childhood, haunted by portents and visions. But destiny has great plans for this no-man's-son, taking him from prophesying before the High King Vortigern to the crowning of Uther Pendragon ... and the conception of Arthur -- king for once and always.
The Crystal Cave by Mary Stewart Stewart's first chapter in her five-volume take on the Arthurian legend is told from the point of view of young Merlin, who reluctantly engineers the birth of Arthur.
If you're into all things King Arthur and Merlin, this series of books by Mary Stewart is for you. The Crystal Cave is the first one! Great stuff!
.Those are the books worth reading.
