Interesting book, as much for the Victorian "language of flowers" as the plot. Worth reading.
book club The Language of Flowers: A Novel - Vanessa Diffenbaugh
Good Reads: Spring Reading List The Language of Flowers- Vanessa Diffenbaugh Read in book club 2014. Liked the book quite a bit. Easy and nice read.
The Language of Flowers: A Novel: Vanessa Diffenbaugh The Victorian language of flowers was used to convey romantic expressions: honeysuckle for devotion, asters for patience, and red roses for love. But for Victoria Jones, it’s been more useful in communicating mistrust and solitude. After a childhood spent in the foster-care system, she is unable to get close to anybody, and her only connection to the world is through flowers and their meanings.

My Mouth is a Volcano!: Also Tattle Tongue and others by Julia Cook: Teaches students to manage their thoughts and words without interrupting. Great, descriptive language with some of the text as part of the illustrations. Great for developing social skills.
Great book to read to kids when one or multiple students have a problem keeping their thoughts to themselves. My Mouth is A Volcano by Julia Cook
Title: My Mouth is a Volcano Author: Julia Cook Genre: Picture Book, Classroom Management I would love to have this book for teaching kindergarten! This book will help students learn not to call out in class. This book would also allow different behavior management plans to come about in the classroom such as a blurt chart.

my favorite book of the last year A Reliable Wife
Click this for episode #25 in its entirety. Cove members Millenia and Roberta discuss A RELIABLE WIFE by Robert Goolrick, the December 2012 Cove pick (#145). Note: Spoilers abound. Our podcast is for those who've read the book. on my to be read list: He placed a notice in a Chicago paper, an advertisement for a “reliable wife.” She responded, saying that she was “a simple, honest woman.” She was, of course, anything but honest, and the only simple thing about her was her single-minded determination to marry this man and then kill him, slowly and carefully, leaving herself a wealthy widow. What Catherine Land did not realize was that the enigmatic and lonely Ralph Truitt had a plan of his own.
Worth reading. 3-4 stars
A Reliable Wife by Robert Goolrick. An exciting, dramatic, made-for-tv movie sort of novel - very entertaining, if a bit over the top.
