Pre-K / Kids' Activities
The following chart explains why children misbehave and how teachers or other adults should approach each child based on why they are exhibiting the behavior: Positive Discipline emphasizes that effective discipline allows teachers to recognize the reasons why children do what they do rather than merely attempting to change the behavior. With this system, teachers are empowered to dig deeper and help students get to the root of their problems versus just take care of them on the surface.
November is Native American Heritage Month- great site for ideas and activities- but even if you are just looking for great books for Thanksgiving, Chief Jake Swamp's "Giving Thanks" is a beautiful book- so many lessons ideas can be used with it- environmental consciousness, needs vs. wants (looking past being thankful for what we get vs. thankful for what we need- food, shelter, water, etc.).
Kindergarten & Preschool for Parents & Teachers: I work as a literacy teacher right now in an inner city school and I see first hand the students whose parents taught them the first basics of reading and those parents who didn't. It's imperative that parents prepare their child for, even, pre-k. Early childhood education is a must.
