Clients could then order their favorites according to their own specifications. This method is the origin of haute couture. 29" figure, period accurate 1885 visiting dress created & hand sewn by fashion designer John Burbidge: deep red silk satin & velvet bustle skirt & jacket, lace blouse, fringed & tasseled over skirt, includes matching parasol & hat, shoes, undergarments, all excellent. This is one of 75 "ladies" each costumed in a 1860 through 1914 unique ensemble, as seen in the book "Les Petites Dames de Mode" & numerous museum presentations throughout the U.S.
