Cameo Crown; c.1811, worn by Crown Princess of Sweden, Victoria in her wedding, just as her mother, Silvia, did when she married the reigning King of Sweden. The tiara was made in 1811 for Queen Josephine, the first wife of Napoleon I. In 1823 Queen Josephine gave it to her grandaughter, Josephine of Leuchtenburg, as part of her dowry when she married the future King of Sweden, Oscar I.

The Cameo Tiara, circa 1811. This tiara is one of the oldest and most recognized pieces of jewelry in the Swedish royal family collection. It was originally commissioned by Napoleon I for Empress Josephine. The gold and seed pearl tiara is set with 7 different cameos. Created by French Crown Jeweller Marie-Etienne Nitot. (=)
1811 #Cameo #tiara made for Empress Josephine by Marie-Etienne Nitot. This beautifil Napoleonic-era cameo tiara was worn by Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden on her wedding day, just as her mother and two of her father's sisters had. She also wore the earrings and bracelet that go with the Cameo parure (there is also a matching necklace). #royal #jewels
Cameo tiara (part of a parure) belonging to Empress Josephine, designed by Nitot, French, c. 1809. This parure is believed to be a gift from Napoleon to his Josephine in 1809, the same year he divorced her to enter a second marriage with the hopes of getting an heir. The suite consists of a tiara, necklace, bracelet, earrings and a brooch. It’s made of red gold and cameos, surrounded by pearls, except for the necklace where diamonds frame the cameos. The cameo parure wasn’t mentioned in the inventories after Josephine’s death in 1814, which is why her ownership of the parure is questioned. She has been portrayed wearing a similar cameo tiara, if one allows the artist a little artistic freedom. On the other hand we do know it belonged to Hortense de Beauharnais, Josephine’s daughter who was married to one of Napoleon’s brothers. In some convoluted way the parure ended up with Josephine of Leuchtenberg (granddaughter to Josephine de Beauharnais and niece to Hortense). This Josephine was sixteen in 1814 when she married Oscar of Sweden and became the Crown Princess of Sweden. Despite unfortunate alliances of the past and more in tune with the Eros and Psyche theme, the tiara has become something of a wedding tiara in the Swedish Royal Family. The present queen, the crown princess, and several of the present king’s sisters wore the tiara at their weddings.

The Gloucester Indian Tiara Also know as Princess Marie Louise Indian Tiara, this sapphire, diamond, and pearl tiara, was constructed to mimic the style of Indian jewels. It originally belonged to Princess Marie Louise of Schleswig-Holstein, a granddaughter of Queen Victoria. She wore the tiara to the Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation in 1953. Marie Louise was godmother to the current Duke of Gloucester, which is presumably how the tiara came to its current wearer, the Duchess of Gloucester.

The Poltimore Tiara, given to Princess Margaret on her wedding day by her sister HM Queen Elizabeth II. For me this is the most beautiful tiara in the Queens collection! Probably (again, for me) the most beautiful tiara in the world.
I deserve this! Princess Margaret wore this tiara at her 1960 wedding to Mr. Antony Armstrong-Jones. Called the Poltimore Tiara, it is a Garrard design created in the 1870s for Florence, Lady Poltimore, the wife of the second Baron Poltimore (Treasurer to Queen Victoria's household from 1872-1874).

The turquoise star tiara appears to have turquoise inserts with small star caps. Queen Ena's jewellery is fairly well known and documented, but this particular piece seems to have escaped documentation. Its current whereabouts are unknown. It is possible that it was broken up to make a new tiara, or it may have been privately sold. This is a fairly clear photo of the tiara, as well as the matching turquoise necklace and earrings.
