UN MONSTRUO VIENE A VERME - PATRICK; DOWD NESS
A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness. The monster showed up just after midnight. As they do. But it isn’t the monster Conor's been expecting. He's been expecting the one from his nightmare, the one he's had nearly every night since his mother started her treatments, the one with the darkness and the wind and the screaming... The monster in his back garden, though, this monster is something. And it wants the most dangerous thing of all from Conor. It wants the truth.
"A Monster Calls" is an extraordinarily moving novel of coming to terms with loss from two of our finest writers for young adults.

Isnt't that the coolest book cover ever ? And even better: Now we procastinating perfectionists finally have the solid arguments for postponing until tomorrow.. "Partnoy demonstrates that procrastination is often virtuous, that the ability to wait is the path to happiness, and that our gut instincts often betray us. We do not always make smart choices in the blink of an eye, as this eye-opening book reveals". Love it ! http://www.pytmedperfekt.dk/
Wait: The Art and Science of Delay. Ironically, I can hardly wait to read this book by #FrankPartnoy...

Sleepwalk With Me
Worth Reading, Books Jackets, Books Worth, Mike Birbiglia, Funny Stuff, Pain True, Reading Lists, Prince Charms, True Stories
Sleepwalk with Me & Other Painfully True Stories, Mike Birbiglia. This is my 1st book. It’s difficult to describe. It’s a comedic memoir. I tell some personal stories. Some REALLY personal stories. Some of the stories are about my childhood, some are about girls I made out with when I was thirteen, some are about my parents, and some are, of course, about my bouts with sleepwalking. Bring this book to bed. And sleepwalk with me.
Funny stuff, and a decent read... but it could've been shorter and better.
There's prince charming, and then there's Mike Birbiglia. I want a Mike Birbiglia.
Worth Reading, Karen O'Neil, Dust Jackets, Books Jackets, Books Club, Books Worth, Karen Russell, Dust Covers, Books Review
From the celebrated twenty-nine-year-old author of the everywhere-heralded short-story collection St. Lucy’s Home for Girls Raised by Wolves (“How I wish these were my own words, instead of the breakneck demon writer Karen Russell’s . . . Run for your life. This girl is on fire”—Los Angeles Times Book Review) comes a blazingly original debut novel that takes us back to the swamps of the Florida Everglades, and introduces us to Ava Bigtree, an unforgettable young heroine. The Bigtree alligator-wrestling dynasty is in decline, and Swamplandia!, their island home and gator-wrestling theme park, formerly #1 in the region, is swiftly being encroached upon by a fearsome and sophisticated competitor called the World of Darkness. Ava’s mother, the park’s indomitable headliner, has just died; her sister, Ossie, has fallen in love with a spooky character known as the Dredgeman, who may or may not be an actual ghost; and her brilliant big brother, Kiwi, who dreams of becoming a scholar, has just defected to the World of Darkness in a last-ditch effort to keep their family business from going under. Ava’s father, affectionately known as Chief Bigtree, is AWOL; and that leaves Ava, a resourceful but terrified thirteen, to manage ninety-eight gators and the vast, inscrutable landscape of her own grief. Against a backdrop of hauntingly fecund plant life animated by ancient lizards and lawless hungers, Karen Russell has written an utterly singular novel about a family’s struggle to stay afloat in a world that is inexorably sinking. An arrestingly beautiful and inventive work from a vibrant new voice in fiction.
Engrossing, entertaining, an original that is well worth reading.

The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair that Changed America..... Absolutely my favorite book! Its incredible :)
One of the best books I have read in quite some time. Beautifully detailed, utterly engrossing, bizarre, and horrifyingly disturbing, this brave book invites the reader to peer into the lives of a family of circus freaks whose relationships with one another, as well as the outside world, and the "normal" people, give the reader a unique perspective and forces one to consider the darker tendencies and reactions of society and the human condition.

Geek Love by Katherine Dunn - My favourite book.
A Weird Girl Reading List: Geek Love, Katherine Dunn. You can't be any more of an outsider than Olympia — the hunchback albino dwarf who isn't enough of a freak to fit into her own family, and too much of one to blend into the world outside. Freakishness is the mutated backbone of this novel, and as the characters gnaw and gnash their way across the country, things keep on getting weirder.

Welcome to Battleschool. Growing up is never easy. But try living on the mean streets as a child begging for food and fighting like a dog with ruthless gangs of starving kids who wouldn't hesitate to pound your skull into pulp for a scrap of apple. If Bean has learned anything on the streets, it's how to survive. And not with fists. He is way too small for that. But with brains.
A companion to Ender's Game, another of my all-time favourite books.
Good companion novel about another genius kid!

The House of Mirth. By Edith Wharton. book club rating: do not read
The Hoke Library in Jensen Beach will host their Book Discussion Group on Thursday, March 13th at 2pm to discuss Edith Wharton's The House of Mirth. The first American novel to provide a devastatingly accurate portrait of New York's aristocracy, it is the story of the beautiful and beguiling Lily Bart and her ill-fated attempt to rise to the heights of a heartless society in which, ultimately, she has no part.
