Honoring a dead soldier. Brings tears to my eyes, we are the land of the free, because of the brave. These people fighting for our freedom, dead or alive, get very little respect. It makes me extremely mad when I hear someone disrespect them or say something rude about these men and women, especially because my Grandfather was one of those men!

“Joseph Ambrose, a then-86-year-old World War I veteran, attends the dedication day parade for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in 1982, holding the flag that covered the casket of his son, who was killed in that war.”-God bless
We need to remember all those who fought evil and helped to maintain our freedom. “Joseph Ambrose, a then-86-year-old World War I veteran, attends the dedication day parade for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in 1982, holding the flag that covered the casket of his son, who was killed in that war.”
God Bless America & our Veterans.
November 11th is Veterans Day, saluting all the men and women who have served in the armed forces. Mere words are not sufficient on this day. Shake the hands of everyone you meet who has served and thank them for their service. And if you see someone in uniform, pick up their tab, whether it’s a cab, a drink, a meal, or groceries. It’s a small act of kindness for those who fill the role of defender as outlined in our anthem. O! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand Between their loved home and the war’s desolation! Blest with victory and peace, may the heav’n rescued land Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation. Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just, And this be our motto: ’In God is our trust.’ And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave! “The Star Spangled Banner”, fourth stanza Joseph Ambrose, an 86-year-old World War I veteran, attends the dedication day parade for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in 1982, holding the flag that covered the casket of his son, who had been killed in the Korean War. WH I wonder where OBAMA will be this year? Playing golf? Shooting hoops? Smoking Every year the French have a 4 day celebration in Normandy complete with American uniforms, tanks, jeeps and guns. They still honor the Americans who ied there. In all the years since, Our country has only FOUR TIMES not been there to do the honors. Four times in 69 years!! I wonder who would have had the lack of respect to not honor our fighting forces? SHAME ON AMERICA FOR ELECTING A NON-VETERAN PRESIDENT WHO DOES NOT DESERVE TO BE THE COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF: HE IS ABSOLUTELY A DISGRACE TO ALL WHO FOUGHT FOR THIS NATION AND GAVE THEIR LIVES. VETERANS - PLEASE FORWARD THIS TO YOUR VETERAN FRIENDS AND CONTACTS!!!!!! June 6, 2013, the 69th anniversary of "D-Day", the largest invasion ever attempted, where 200,000 Americans stormed the beaches at Normandy to begin the final push to defeat Nazi Germany in WWII. D-Day marked the turning point in WWII in Europe . Today, European heads of state make it a point to recall and honor the sacrifices of those who landed in Normandy , as do our Presidents....well, most of them.... In the 69 years since D-Day, there are four occasions when the President of the United States chose not to visit the D-Day Monument that honors the soldiers killed during the Invasion. The occasions were: 1. Barack Obama, 2010 2. Barack Obama, 2011 3. Barack Obama, 2012 4. Barack Obama, 2013 For the past 69 years, every American resident except Obama have taken the time to honor the memory and sacrifices of the 6,000 American soldiers killed on D-Day. ...Except Obama! June 6 2010, Obama had no events scheduled. June 6, 2011, Obama met with the National Security team and was interviewed by WEWS Cleveland and WDIV in Detroit about the auto industry - FAR too busy to visit the D-Day memorial. June 6, 2012, instead of honoring our fallen soldiers, Obama made a campaign trip to California on Air Force 1 (at our expense) to raise funds for (his) upcoming election. June 6, 2013, Obama was doing ANOTHER fund raiser with the multimillionaires in the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee in Palo Alto CA , once again at our expense. America - Aren't you proud?

1973 oil crisis
1970 S, 1970S Party, 1970S Remember, Gas Stations, Gas Shortage
1973 oil/gas crisis. How well I remember this! It was a scary thing. There was another crisis in the '80's, I believe. The number of cars at the pumps was unbelievable. Car tags with uneven numbers went certain days of the week, and even numbers went the other days. And in our town, some gas stations would not permit you to get gas there if you were not a regular customer. Again...scary.
1973 oil embargo.......sometimes you waited in line only to find when you got to the pumps they had run out of gas.
1973 oil crisis - that really changed where we went - we use to travel an hour away on Sundays to go to church and visit Grammy - we found a church closer
1973 oil crisis. Drivers could only get gasoline on alternate days: on an even-numbered day, those whose license plates ended in an even number could fill up; same with odd numbers. And this was in the era of gas guzzlers!! This was a result of "an oil embargo imposed by members of the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) led to fuel shortages and sky-high prices throughout much of the decade." From The History Channel

6. Photographic Representation - Pinned from Alex Chandler. Ethical Issues in photojournalism involve directing a scene or manipulating images. There were two flag raisings on Iwo Jima. The first was quick & the second was done to replace the flag with a larger flag. The second raising was immortalized in this photograph by Joe Rosenthal. Persistent rumors that Rosenthal staged this image have been proven false.

"Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus." Original Editorial from The New York Sun September 21, 1897 - from Francis P Church to 8 yr old Virginia O'Hanlon
Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus -------------------------------------------------- Is There a Santa Claus? was the title of an editorial appearing in the September 21, 1897, edition of The (New York) Sun. The editorial, which included the famous reply "Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus", has become an indelible part of popular Christmas folklore in the United States.
A long time ago a little girl named Virginia asked her father if Santa Claus was real. He suggested that she write to the New York Sun because "if you read it in the Sun, it's so." The newspaper responded to her on September 21, 1897 with this editorial.
Christmas ~ The famous 1897 New York Sun newspaper editorial in response to a child's letter: Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus.
"Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy." Printed 1897
Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. I appreciate that whomever wrote this really did care that Virginia had a decent childhood full of wonder and dreams and magic.
