Rare Titanic Black Mourning Bear By Steiff. The bear was one of only 600 which were made especially for the British market in May 1912, to show empathy for the loss of the passengers of the R.M.S. Titanic. It is said their eyes were rimmed red to appear as if they had been crying. They were also manufactured with a somber expression.

8-year-old Helen Keller (1880-1968) with Anne Sullivan (1866-1936) vacationing at Cape Cod in July 1888. Both Keller and Sullivan indicated later in their journals that “doll” was the first word Helen learned in sign language in March 1887. This photograph is believed to be the only known photo of Helen holding one of her dolls.
Rail disaster children remembered
A memorial has been unveiled to children who died in Scotland's worst rail crash, which happened near Gretna Green in May 1915. Some 227 people died at Quintinshill junction - most of them soldiers from the Royal Scots, who were on their way to the front line. It's thought the children may have stowed away on the troop train.

Three men who stood in the same line in Auschwitz have nearly consecutive numbers: From left, Menachem Shulovitz, 80, bears B14594; Anshel Udd Sharezky, 81, was B14595; and Jacob Zabetzky, 83, was B14597. “We were strangers standing in line in Auschwitz, we all survived different paths of hell, and we met in Israel,” Mr. Sharezky said. "We stand here together now after 65 years. Do you realize the magnitude of the miracle?”

Millvina Dean was the youngest survivor of the Titanic. She was only a few months old. She was the last Titanic survivor living until her death in 2009.

At Fairview Cemetery 121 victims of the Titanic disaster are resting. The other 29 victims buried in Halifax can be located at Mount Olivet Cemetery and Baron de Hirsch Cemetery. All in all, 150 victims were put to rest here, in the so-called "City of Sorrow"
