(If this isn't chic, I don't know the meaning of the word!) Cab Calloway hanging out with Lena Horne in the 1940s.
I may be tarred and feathered for saying this, but I think the true star power in this pic is all with him. Lena's a beautiful woman and listening to her sing is a lot better than a sharp stick in the ear, but Cab was electric. Cab Calloway hanging out with Lena Horne in the 1940s. Rocco Scott LaFaro (April 3, 1936 – July 6, 1961) was an influential American jazz double bassist, perhaps best known for his seminal work with the Bill Evans Trio.
Scott LaFaro - Although he performed for only six years, his innovative approach to the bass redefined jazz and inspired a generation of bassists who followed him. He died in an automobile accident in Flint, New York.
Sometimes, brilliance shines briefly but amazingly bright. What Scott Lafaro did in his short time on earth, still astounds and moves me to tears.

Elvin Jones. Considered the most influential jazz drummer of the 1960s by virtue of his work with John Coltrane, Jones expanded the bebop drumming vocabulary through an aggressive approach that featured multiple levels of rhythm based on a rolling-triplet pulse.
