This is the best idea ever!! The Great Pencil Challenge (managing pencils!)

A game for 2 or 3 players. Each player chooses a color pencil they will use in the game. Players take turns rolling the dice, using the numbers that they rolled to draw the perimeter of a rectangle or square & writing the area in the middle of the shape. Game ends when players run out of room to draw. Winner is the player who has used the largest area/most squares.

The Water Cycle Rap

Extremely engaging earth's layers and basic geology lesson, foldable, 16 slide PowerPoint, KWL chart (class starter and exit ticket), student note sheet, and video wrap up! This is an extremely popular lesson in my classroom! Students learn via creating and decorating a folding earth that functions as a mini book that describes the layers of the earth. Highly engaging, high level thinking activity / lab. Perfect for classrooms that utilize interactive notebooks.

Oreo plate tectonics! This is such a creative way to teach students about the concept of the Earth's shifting layers. This would be a great focus activity to get students excited about learning how the movement of the Earth's plates can cause earthquakes to occur. In my unit, this would be a great way to talk about the globe and the fact that continents and oceans both have layers that move!
