this was a great book, and shes def one of my favorite writers. anything by her is worth reading, in my opinion
The basis for the Lifetime movie! Beatrice "Trixie" Stone (Brittany Robertson, "Avalon High") accuses boyfriend Jason of date rape; he insists it's consensual. The story soon gets controversial and complicated. Trixie's mom (Kelly Preston) just happens to teach about Dante and his nine circles; her dad (Ron Eldard) is a comic book artist (Picoult wrote "Wonder Woman" some time in her career).
The Tenth Circle, Jodi Picoult. Read (listened to) June 2012. Entertaining read, not one of my favorite Picoult books. I did enjoy the references to Dante's Inferno. Didn't really connect to any of the characters, they were all so flawed. Which normally makes me like them, but not this time.
The Tenth Circle by Jodi Picoult, Illustrated by Dustin Weaver / An intricate novel of rape and the consequences to all; lots of symbolism and mythology thrown in. The story in interspersed with a graphic novel of a superhero's search for his daughter through Dante's circles of hell
Yet another book that I thoroughly enjoyed from one of favorite author, Jodi Piccoult. How far would a parent go, to protect his/her child?
I have to admit I haven't read many of Picoult's books but The Tenth Circle is one of my favorites. Some think this book is different than her others; she says it still explores the parent-child relationship so in that way it is similar to her other books. I like the way she explores the father-daughter relationship after the daughter is raped. I also like her references to Dante and the fact that the father's graphic novel is brought into the story line. It's a great read and I was hooked right away.
My one and only a FAVORITE book. Everyone should read this.

Another heart-wrenching book by Jodi Piccoult. How delighted I was to discover that I had an unread book by one of my favorite authors. This one deals with the Amish community and what happens when their faith is juxtaposed with the American legal system. It makes you think about what forgiveness really means.
One of my favorites by Jodi Picoult.

Amish! This is my favorite of Jodi Picoult's books, and one of my favorite books in general. Well researched in portraying the Amish characters, and a fantastic "didn't see that coming" ending. Highly recommend this one!

A great read about how we come to make decisions, Nineteen Minutes centers around the story of a high school shooting, and is told, in classic Jodi Picoult style, from 5 different viewpoints using flashbacks and opinions about the present day
Jodi Picoult. 19 minutes.. I was born on the 19th... main character and I share the same last name... clearly my favorite book
Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult: In the aftermath of a horrific small-town school shooting, lawyer Jordan McAfee finds himself defending a youth who desperately needs someone on his side, while intrepid detective Patrick DuCharme works with a primary witness in the daughter of the superior court judge assigned to the case.
19 Minutes by Jodi Picoult Its a tragically heart-wrenching story about a boy who is bullied his whole life and brings a gun to high school one day. You never expect to feel sympathy for someone who wants to kill someone else...
19 minutes. This was one of my first Jodi Picoult books...then I was hooked. Great book...great ending!!!
This book is about a gun shooting that occured at a high school. Like all Jodi Picoult books there are a number of different characters whose viewpoints you are shown, featuring the shooter and a student who was friends with some of those killed during the shooting.
Years of research on school shootings finally culminated in this book about 19 minutes in a school. It was horrifying and truthful. Picoult captured the essence of high school students and their psychology in this eye-opening novel.
Jodi Picoult is one of my FAVORITE authors. This is my favorite book of hers.
I want to post something everyday this year that I love, but it's already the 7th so I'm a little behind... I'll have to post a few things a day until I catch up! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- All of my posts are in no particular order, I'll just post them as I think of them. The first thing I love is... Jodi Picoult Books. They're the best! I could sit down and read one of her books cover to cover. I've already finished eleven of her books. Right now I'm working on "Keeping Faith," but I keep picking right before I go to bed to read and I always fall asleep right after reading a page or two. I think I'll make it a goal to finish it by the end of the weekend... Mariah finds her husband with another woman for the second time in their marriage. He files for divorce and gives her full custody of their child, Faith, who develops an imaginary friend. When her mother takes her to see a therapist, she is told that her daughter may be seeing God. Faith receives a lot of media attention for different things that happen to her throughout the book. Amid these events, she receives attention from a teleathiest named Ian Fletcher, who also causes all sorts of problems. If you've never read a Jodi Picoult book, I suggest you start with "Nineteen Minutes." It's my favorite book of hers so far. It starts with a shooting in a small high school. After the shooting, the town's residents must not only seek justice in order to begin healing, but also come to terms with the role they played in the tragedy. Joise, the teenage daughter of the judge sitting on the case, could be the state's best witness, but she cannot remember what happened. I promise that you will not be able to put the book down. It's so emotionally charged and well written. I read it in Arizona over spring break last year and I don't think I put it down once. She does a really good job of developing all the characters and making you care about all of them! Another one of my favorites is "My Sister's Keepers", but don't compare it to the movie... it's completely different, and the book is a lot better. I haven't even seen it myself, but people told me about it and it's not the same. I always prefer the book over the movie anyways, so maybe I'm biased. My other favorites are "The Pact" and "Vanishing Acts." The only book I didn't care for was "Handle With Care." If you did like, let me know! Maybe I just need to reread it, but I really didn't like the ending. Although I do think that you should read it and decide for yourself! I've read every book except - House Rules - Wonder Woman - Perfect Match - Mercy - Harvesting the Heart - Songs of the Humpback Whale Which one should I read next? Asperger, Reading List, Favorite Book, Favorite Author, Books Book, Dust Cover, Picoult Book
I often feel as if I have grown out of Jodi Picoult books. Whenever I think of her, I think of your typical romance novels full of cliches and unrealistic expectations. House Rules is the opposite of that. About a boy with aspergers who will go to all ends of the earth to follow the "rules" layed out by his mother.
House Rules, a boy with Asperger's syndrome is accused of murder. Picoult shifts viewpoints and examines the prejudices surrounding the boy's social disability. Did he do it?? What really happened?? Why not read it for yourself. Its really good!! You wont put it down.
On my "To Read" list. Looks like another classic Picoult, which I have dubbed the "Gloom & Doom" Series---ALL involve tragedy. "When your son can’t look you in the eye . . . does that mean he’s guilty? Jacob Hunt is a teen with Asperger’s syndrome. He’s hopeless at reading social cues or expressing himself well ways. But he has a special focus on one subject—forensic analysis. A police scanner in his room clues him in to crime scenes..."
7-2012 House Rules- It was a great read. The plot of the story is about a teen boy with Aspergers who is on trial for murder. He is fascinated with all things crime scene and when he tries to "Help Out" on a local murder case, his knowledge looks an awful lot like guilt. How will his mother cope with a second son who is tired of his life being taken over by a brother with special needs, while trying to save her autistic son from being imprisoned for murder?
House Rules, this year's Picoult novel, introduces readers to Jacob, a young man with Asperger's, an autism spectrum disorder. Jacob sees the world in black and white (or more correctly, in a perfectly ordred rainbow sequences, sans orange), is extremely literal, and obsessed with forensics. Most of the time, his loving mother and difficult brother can deal with Jacob's differences. However, when Jess, Jacob's social skills tutor, is found dead in the woods, the evidence points to Jacob.

Eat pray love. Favorite Movie.
Liz Gilbert (Julia Roberts) had everything a modern woman is supposed to dream of having - a husband, a house, a successful career - yet like so many others, she found herself lost, confused, and searching for what she really wanted in life. Newly divorced and at a crossroads, Gilbert steps out of her comfort zone, risking everything to change her life, embarking on a journey around the world that becomes a quest for self-discovery. In her travels, she discovers the true pleasure of nourishment by eating in Italy; the power of prayer in India, and, finally and unexpectedly, the inner peace and balance of true love in Bali. Based upon the bestselling memoir by Elizabeth Gilbert, Eat, Pray, Love proves that there really is more than one way to let yourself go and see the world.
There's a reason this title is on every book club reading list...it's very good! The compelling story takes place during an ugly time in our country's history and combines tragedy, hope and triumphs of humanity. Tough to put down.

Room by Emma Donoghue : Read it in a weekend. Very, very good...but i wouldn't really call it a "thriller." Told in the voice of a five year old boy. A must read.
It is told from the point of view of a 5 year old boy who has been locked up with his kidnapped mom since birth.
I read this book in just over a day. It was really that good. Written from the perspective of a 5 year old boy who has spent his entire life in captivity....even though he didn't really know it.

The Time Traveler's Wife..good book...movie not as
One of my all-time favorite books! #book,
The title of The Time Traveler's Wife would have you believe that it's a story based on themes of science fiction or fantasy, but that's not the case. While there are, of course, supernatural elements in the novel, the story itself is deeply grounded in love and human emotion. The Time Traveler's Wife is the story of Henry, a man who (since he was a child) possesses the capability of involuntary time travel. The story begins in his late twenties when he meets his future wife, Clare. Upon meeting Clare, Henry discovers that she already knows him very well having met him while he was time traveling throughout her childhood and adolescence. After their meeting, the book takes us through the evolution of their relationship in both current time and in Clare's childhood when an adult Henry (at many ages) comes to her from her future life. The Time Traveler's Wife is one of the few books in modern fiction to combine commercial, page-turning appeal and literary merit. Stories with a heavy emphasis on romance are often given a bad rep for being cheesy, saccharine, or soapy. But what Audrey Niffenegger has created is a romantic story with enough plot, action, and explanation to make the star-crossed aspects of this relationship believable. She intertwines the page-turning action with realistic sexuality and romance so that it is never gooey or heavy handed. Niffenegger has given us one of the most interesting and endearing portraits of a relationship ever set to the page. It is no surprise that The Time Traveler's Wife ascended to the commercial success that it did when it combines the best qualities of so many genres to create it's understandable and well-deserved mass appeal. A great trilogy by Stieg Larsson. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire, and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest.
As the finale to Stieg Larsson's Millennium Trilogy, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest is not content to merely match the adrenaline-charged pace that made international bestsellers out of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and The Girl Who Played with Fire. Instead, it roars with an explosive storyline that blows the doors off the series and announces that the very best has been saved for last.
The Girl who Kicked the Hornets Nest by Stieg Larsson- Sums up the trilogy nicely, but Dragon Tattoo still tops them all!
