A mini greenhouse... table for the outdoors!
Great tutorial on building raised garden bed (note: I would never use treated wood. not sure if this site mentioned that! also, good tip about laying newspaper before soil),
mini-garden for kids
would be cute in the kiddo's garden
Bordered gravel patio
Open the pumpkin, add a little soil and water, and watch the seeds (which are already inside the pumpkin) grow.
Tree-stump planter. Hmmm. We have to cut down a dead tree in our backyard. This would be a great solution to the remaining stump!
DIY Solar Lamp: Make your own Eco-Friendly Sun Jar. The principle is simple and seductively clever: solar lights that store energy during the day and release light at night. These can be purchased ready-made in a variety of colors (yellow, blue and red) but they can also be built at home.A simple, less-technical approach involves buying a conventional solar-powered yard lamp and then essentially harvesting it for key pieces to put in a jar. This is simply a way of taking an existing solar la...
My sisters and I were just on the television show Yard Crashers (Episode titled: Floating Decks). They built a fountain that flows into a small stream like the one shown in the third picture. The top of the fountain holds a fire pit covered in glass rock. It is gorgeous. Check it out on the DIY network (www.yardcrashers.com). Chrizwiz, the show provides a do it yourself look at how to build the fountain....
now it'd be NICE if I could take this design, cut it longways and attach it to the side of the house... then I'd gain a greenhouse AND a shed. My yard is too small to build something like this as is though.
"Once the vines are established, this outdoor shower will make for a uniquely private retreat. Although I wouldn't necessarily recommend this method of privacy for cooler climates since the growing season isn't very long, the general concept can be carried into other parts of the yard, such as fences or small privacy screens.
Our small backyard is a tranquil, shady oasis even on the hottest summer days in Los Angeles. But it wasn't always this way. When we bought our house 8 years ago, the entire backyard was paved with concrete and ringed by a cinderblock wall. The yard was a work in progress for several years…
Here, a simple pergola creates a view that gives this small front yard a grand feel. Arbors and pergolas are great ways to frame a view, but you can do the same with shrubs, small trees, or even pieces of garden art.
Neat idea for a garden/veggies and herbs in a small space. Even with a yard, maybe this would be better for watering? It would be a nice lush looking divider/slight privacy thing.
Vernal pool. A small fish-less pond for certain insects and tadpoles. Looking forward to having a yard to call my own (again), so I can put one in!
Care-free garden: Hide a wall An imposing cement-block wall made Reyes’s yard seem small. Rather than replacing it, he chose a cheaper, faster option: Cover it with bamboo fencing
Yard bowling balls on posts are of course god awful but there's other aspects of this small backyard I like.
Wow. This "splash pad" is amazing. Great idea even if you have a small yard and don't want the upkeep of a pool.
Love these Tipsy Pots! Great for small back yards or even just visual interest. Need to find a spot in our yard to try!
I have been wanting to do this for a small patio that's in our back yard.
Don't need it but I love the small space yard design
"nest" - could work as a treehouse in a small yard
