[Isolde by Gaston Bussière, 1911] Isolde, alternatively Iseult, Iseo, Yseult, Isode, Isoude, Izolda, Esyllt, Isotta, is the name of several characters in the Arthurian story of Tristan and Iseult. The most prominent is Iseult of Ireland, wife of Mark of Cornwall and adulterous lover of Sir Tristan. Her mother, the Queen of Ireland, is also named Iseult. The third is Iseult of the White Hands, the daughter of Hoel of Brittany, sister of Sir Kahedin, and eventual wife of Tristan.

Elizabeth Siddal in 1860 Elizabeth Siddal was an artists’ model, poet and artist who was painted and drawn extensively by artists of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. Upon her death, her husband Dante Gabriel Rossetti, overcome with grief, enclosed in Elizabeth’s coffin a small journal containing the only copies he had of his many poems. He purportedly slid the book into Elizabeth’s red hair. She was then interred at Highgate Cemetery in London. Before publishing his newer poems

Elisabeth Sonrel 1874-1953 made portraits of women that have both a certain Pre-Raphaelite intensity and an affinity to French symbolist painting. Her breakthrough came at the 1900 Paris Universal World Exposition.

Our Lady of Cow Parsley - Elisabeth Sonrel 1874-1953, is wrongly a rather unknown artist. She made mainly portraits of idealized women that have both a certain Pre-Raphaelite intensity and an affinity to French symbolist painting. She was inspired by Arthurian romance, biblical subjects, archaic legends, and medieval love and used a style that is definitely Art Nouveau.

Burne-Jones’s gave the wardrobe as a wedding present to William Morris and Jane Burden in 1858. John William Waterhouse - Flora and the Zephyrs detail. Waterhouse's painting shows the moment when Zephyr first set eyes upon and fell in love with Flora, as she gathered flowers in the fields with her maidens and children. He flies down to her, accompanied by his winged companions. and captures her by casting a garland of white flowers around her.

pre-raphaelite-art-john-william-waterhouse-flora-Maria Zambaco by Edward Coley Burne-Jones As someone that’s interested in fashion, I love how the PRB captured their ideas of beauty in a woman. Long, flowing wavy hair, big doe eyes, and a natural glow seems central to this standard of beauty. A lot of the luminescent in these paintings comes from how the PRB painted. They laid down white paint on the foreground and then added color.

She was the younger sister of Euphemia (Effie) Gray, who married Millais in 1855 after the annulment of her marriage to John Ruskin.
